hmm, i do have a three day weekend on that week....

Unless you planned on flying, that would take you more than 2 days of nonstop driving just to get there.

Houston to Baltimore or LA took more than a day straight one way with only minimal stops for food, gas, and bathrooms.

if i do go, i would take the plane route just like when i was planning to go to the Houston meet-up earlier this year with you.

hmmm, if i could find someone to pick me up at the airport (PA or NY) and a place to crash in for a night i would consider going.

As mentioned in the OP, I have lots of room (about 4 acres) for camping if folks want to stick around Saturday and head out on Sunday. I also know that several of the folks on the "maybe" list are in the vicinity of airports...

So I am thinking this shindig may be the perfect excuse to turn my spare 27" CRT monitor and HTPC into a MAME cabinet. Anyone with previous experience with building one think I can get that done in a month? Basically I just need the cabinet and perhaps the x-arcade joystick...

Maybe a few lightguns, too...

If you have a cab built, should only be about a couple of days work. If you need to make the cab... I suspect a month would be enough. I don't know what HTPC is but I'm assuming that is the PC running the whole thing.

The hardest part would be taking the CRT out of the TV and hooking up inside the cab. Modding the X-arcade joysticks should be easy. Hell, if you're building the entire cab from scratch you can just build the player surface and put in all sanwa/semitsu/HAPP parts the way you want (i just love making joysticks and I don't know why).

well im quite close to the avoca airport in pa (wilkesbarre/scranton international airport), me and littlecallen would have no problem picking you up there.
