PaRapa was so awesome. Un Jammer Lammy, not so much. I found it borderline impossible to play. Something just seemed so off about it.

The sad thing about Un Jammer Lammy is the extreme amount of censoring and editing it went through in the localization process. I don't think it was any less playable than PaRappa, but the overall difficulty of the button sequences was definitely harder it seemed.

i can appreciate next gen games and such, but i really like the short and simple game play of 16 bit games. yeah, some games i've played required a few hours to beat using multiple gaming sessions, but for the most part it's a one time gaming session - you either beat it or you don't. also, i can pick up genesis games for a few dollars.

and 8 bit just seems too much of hit or miss. either the games are amazing or they are unplayable.

but don't call me a 16 bit whore just yet. i do want to pick up dead rising II eventually. i really liked the first one.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Whoa. Please tell me you played these on the original NES, with no save states, no cheats, no bullshit.

If so, a tip of my hat to you.

I grew up with Blaster Master playing it when I was like 3-4 years old, so that game I know like the back of my hand. However I can't lie, I'm not sure if I have ever once legitimately beaten it, but I know for a fact I've gotten to stage 8 several times.

This replay, I did use one save state in the middle of the game because I had to leave or something, and then I used save states at the level 7 boss. It baffles me thinking back to how I used to beat that thing legit, haha (it was the second frog boss), that thing took forever and was a pain in the ass. It has a pattern but it's extremely long. The final boss is actually insanely easy (the second fight), if you just get up on the right side of the wall he can never hit you, not sure if I knew that when I was younger though, because I'm pretty sure I got up to that fight but got destroyed and game over. But the real problem is stage 8 itself, the haunting music, the nasty textures, man that level is brutal.

Shatterhand yeah I'm not gonna lie, I didn't abuse save states, but I used them after every stage and then a few times in that final stage. I have a friend who just beat it recently legitimately (he got me to check it out) and yeah, that last stage is freaking insane so kudos to those who can pull it off.

Well, I don't think I've ever beaten Blaster Master without the aid of the "grenade and pause" thingamajig trick. And Shatterhand can amount to very high levels of frustration, but it is worth playing through no matter how you do it.

What sucks about it is that it only works on the bosses that are already easy to beat. Wish it worked on that Crab who spouts out bubbles for about ten minutes.

Finished Portal 2's single player campaign. It is as great as everyone says it is. Incredible environments, funny dialogue, unbelievably well optimized graphics, challenging puzzles, and masterful in-game storyteling. Portal 2 is a champion of a videogame. It's all so professional and perfectly presented. This is what modern gaming is all about.

1. Mercs (PS2)

18. Dead Or Alive (PS1)
19. Mamoru-kun (PS3)
20. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Reshelled (PSN)
21. Ridge Racer (PS1)

I beat Ridge Racer on Beginner and on Mid-Level. Not on the hardest mode. But for my purposes, I'm calling it beaten. Mid-Level to me translates to "Normal" or "Default" or whatever, so I'm happy enough with that. Plus, I don't feel like playing on the hardest level will make me get anything else out of the game experience-wise. This was part of snick's Summer Challenge, so I'll post impressions there.

Ever since I was a kid my main strategy against that boss has been to have weapons maxed out, or else it's practically impossible. Haha.

The 6th boss is a pain as well, and you gotta love how having maxed weapons actually kind of gives you a handicap on that boss because hardly any of the bullets will hit his mouth.

Glimmerati - N-Gage - Completed June 23rd
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - N-Gage - Beaten June 23rd
Homefront - PS3 - Beaten June 26th
Doom - XBLA - Beaten June 30th
Blue Stinger - Dreamcast - Beaten June 30th
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - Wii - Beaten July 2nd.
Hydrophobia: Prophecy - Steam - Beaten July 6th.
Call Of Juarez - Xbox 360 - Beaten July 7th
Splatterhouse - Playstation 3 - Beaten July 7th
Crysis 2: Limited Edition - PC - Beaten July 12th

So... CRYSIS 2 ROCKED. I definetely liked the game, fantastic graphics, great gameplay that while more limited than the first one it's still much better, astonishing soundtrack and a cool story too. Definetely a must buy for FPS fans.

And by the way, fuck you PC elitists, your arrogance and stupidity got in the way of a great game.
