PSX on PS3

Post by ns12123 »

What's the consensus on the quality of playing PSX games on a PS3? I know it's not as good as emulation, but what do you guys think?

I don't have a PS3 but ... why wouldn't it be as good as emulation? I know emus have some great filter options but the PS3 upscales PS1 and 2 games to varying degrees. Can't be any worse than emulation, especially since the PS3 actually has PS1 hardware inside -- even in the 40 gig models.

DUDE WTF ITS BETTER THAN EMULATION, ITS BETTER THAN PLAYING THE ORIGINAL, it upscales the PS1 games and it looks great but they are still 4:3. They often play as good if not better than the originals.
Older. Not wiser.

You can upscale just fine and even add new graphics filters and plugins with emulation. I'm sure that's what he means.

if you get the backwards compatible model, you should be playing it just like it were a psx/psone just with upscaling ability. I ought to try that...

By emulation I mean PC, where you can set really high resolutions and great anti aliasing. PS3 doesn't do much at all to remove aliasing.

Sony doesn't want to make their older games look good. Else fewer people would buy ps3 games.
This is their theory and it is just dumb. They should have these emu option in the ps3, this way they can entice ps1, ps2 owners to get the ps3 to make their games look better.
Pathetic, but this the way things work in this crazy world.
Nobody cares about profit, they care about some little details without focussing on the bigger picture.
What? Too dramatic?

There are USB adapters for almost every controller out there. I have one for the NES, SNES, PS1/2, Sat, GC (I want an N64 one). I use my PC for emulation and am at my couch always~
