Re: What game do you own the most versions/copies of?
This seems like as good a thread as any to ask this question. If any of you have ever visited the Lens of Truth or Digital Foundry websites, you know that they take multi-platform releases and compare them. Now, I was just wondering, is it just a given that digital download games are the same across the board? I noticed that nowhere on the net do I ever hear people discuss differences between a game like Outland for example on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. It just seems assumed that a game is the same across the board. However, if retail releases have differences in visuals and performance(as sites like Lens of Turth and Digital Foundry have shown time and time again), wouldn't the same apply to digital only titles? What happen when something like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is released on PC as well as PSN and Xbox Live? Would the PC version have additional settings for better graphics?

I suppose they would, considering hardware differences, and which console the developer is the most comfortable with. I don't have anything to back this up with really, just my thoughts.Gamerforlife wrote:This seems like as good a thread as any to ask this question. For some reason the elder scrolls:oblivion. One on PS3, One on 360, and something like 4 on the PC.
Why did Kevin Flynn blare Journey so loud in his arcade? Was he trying to hear it from the grid?

I forgot I had a few copies of that game as well. Regular and GOTY version for PS3 and 360. Amazing games.littlecallen wrote:For some reason the elder scrolls:oblivion. One on PS3, One on 360, and something like 4 on the PC.

I know of a specific example of a digital download game being different on PSN and XBLA: Bionic Commando Rearmed. The XBLA version suffered from more screen tearing than the PSN version.insanecow0 wrote:I suppose they would, considering hardware differences, and which console the developer is the most comfortable with.
