Reusing Dreamcast modchip?

i had a similar problem w. my dc
oddly .. disc would not spin up, logo would not come up, but i got the light and no beep .
i moved my dreamcast away from a wall (was blocking the fan's airflow) and it stopped doing that .
was strange because no matter what, seemed like it was broke . i took it apart, swapped psu's rechecked everything . removed my vga mod . (which is now forever broken and mar's my case stupid solder pads fell off !)
anyways, it was a simple matter of moving it for airflow .. although i don't know how the thing could overheat in the ~1 seconds it would stay on
