Jamestown doesn't unlock the final level until you complete it on the "Legendary" difficulty setting. "Divine" difficulty is above that, and an unlockable difficutly called "Judgment" is after that. I've unlocked quite a lot of stuff at this point, but haven't unlocked everything and I haven't beaten the game on anything other than the Legendary difficulty setting. Even that wasn't a 1cc, for the elite shmuppers out there. Nevertheless, I saw credits roll and I had a great time. This is a real gem of a game. The music just sends it over the top too. It's not as ridiculously difficult as some shmups I've played (though it is hard), but it has a ton of personality and character that makes it something special.

Re: Games Beaten : 2011
Just finished Samurai difficulty on Vampire Smiles, I got the full 200 gamer points for BOTH Dishwasher games now. Fantastic game. So many awesome little details like enemies killing themselves after seeing you slaughter everyone else, friendly fire resulting in enemies often hurting each other for me, chainsaw duels, blood getting splattered on my screen, badass guitar solos, a Kill Bill style silhouette fight, a boss battle that plays out like a mix of 8-bit action game and a text adventure game, fighting enemies on an elevator while avoiding fire from a robotic dragon, and never have I played a 2D beat'em up where I had more fun using a shotgun! Nothing quite like dodging behind an enemy and literally blowing him to bloody bits with a shotgun blast to the face in slow motion.

I really wish I had some cash, I hate job searching, this is a game I have been really looking forward to playing since I saw JT write a comment about it. Enjoyed reading your thoughts as always JT.J T wrote: 07/10: Jamestown (PC)

working nights really fucks your shit over. 4am and i'm wide awake.
mercs is boss. i beat it on original mode which is something i couldn't accomplish last year. original mode only gives you 1 life. yes, one life to beat 7 levels. but, along the way you pick up partners - each with a different weapon - and you are able to switch them out anytime, any place. the concept is very similar to turtles for the nes. so, all said and done you essentially have 7 or so lives by the end - assuming that they are all living.

Your dedication to the 16-bit era across all your titles beaten this year is stunning to me,. Don't you ever have an inkling to play anything newer than one Saturn game or to dig out some SMS/NES games? Variety is the spice of life...final fight cd wrote:castle of illusion - sega

I actually think it's pretty sweet. Makes me want to have a Genesis-a-thon sometime myself.dsheinem wrote:Your dedication to the 16-bit era across all your titles beaten this year is stunning to me,.

I'll consider this half beaten for now since FFIV Complete also includes Interlude (started this up) and The After Years.
This was an amazing remake, although based off the easier GBA port some of the bosses were still a fair challenge and I had to power up a bit to take on Zeromus which was exciting again. I've played and beaten Chronicles so it doesn't bother me too much that I blasted through this version with ease, it's been years so it was a nice refresher on the story and everything. Cecil, Rydia, and Kain were probably my favorite characters once again.
I wouldn't even mind seeing FFV and or FFVI done in this style, or better yet the original FFIII (since all we have in the US officially is that 3D DS remake, bleh). The graphic style was classic FF and I loved the new portraits.
Awesome that it includes the original score as well. A bestiary, extras, and just lots of stuff. Finally put my PSP to good use.

1/3: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)
1/10: Assassin's Creed II (PS3)
3/10: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
3/12: Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends (PS2)
7/11: Um Jammer Lammy (PS1)
Um Jammer Lammy is a really weird game from start to finish. I found it difficult at times, but I eventually got the hang of it. I'm really not sure if I would give it a good review or a bad one.
Next up: Hopefully Final Fantasy XII. I'm currently 77 hours into it.

PaRapa was so awesome. Un Jammer Lammy, not so much. I found it borderline impossible to play. Something just seemed so off about it.

Whoa. Please tell me you played these on the original NES, with no save states, no cheats, no bullshit.Xeogred wrote:<snip>
