Might finish up FFIV tonight or tomorrow, pretty much done everything there is to do so I'm ready for the final dungeon. I wonder if I'll power level Cecil again like I did on Chronicles, haha. But the PSP version has definitely been much easier, the bosses are still a decent challenge though usually.

Any thoughts on the Cave of Trials and post game Lunar dungeon?

It's been a blast finally playing this one again. Can't wait to see what The After Years is all about. Hopefully that one ends well... right? Because I definitely remember FFIV actually had a damn good ending, which isn't very common in the other FF's I'd say.

Playing FF VIII on PS1. Trying to actually beat it this time.

I got the "No Encounters" ability and don't have to worry too much.

I'm currently playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep on the PSP. I'm playing Aqua's story, and am addicted to synthesizing/leveling up magic commands and activating command styles... I have yet to play through Terra and Ventus' stories, but it won't be long until I do.

I'm finishing Shining the Holy Ark (about 25h on the clock), my first Sega Saturn RPG (if you don't count Panzer Dragoon Saga Demo or... Guardian Heroes). These days, when Saturn games are pretty pricey I had some luck with this title as I got it for about 25 pounds, which is a pretty good deal I believe. Good, solid RPG, the only major flaw for me are the slo-mo's, sometimes the game drops it's speed and you end up fighting monsters at really slow pace, which gets really tedious. Battle system is pretty straightforward and enjoyable but because of that I'd rather retreat from some fights than endure them. Thankfully, those technical shortcomings are compensated by some great music, the battle theme doesn't sound boring even after the 1000th fight, which says something.

I'm finally getting around to playing through Final Fantasy II on the SNES again. I nearly beat it over a decade ago but had to return it before I could finish the final boss battle.

I'm currently at Mt. Ordeals.

I love that game. Good choice for your first Saturn RPG, it's definitely my favorite turn based Saturn RPG.

You said it.

I'm finishing up as well. Although not the first time I've finished, and not my first Saturn RPG.

The Saturn has very few English RPGs, but if you are liking the Shining universe, checkout http://sf3trans.shiningforcecentral.com/ for the translation of the three part Shining Force 3. Or at least play the English released Shining Force 3 scenario 1. Or if you can read Japanese, just check out the Japanese versions.

Unfortunately if you are wanting real copies of the games, the only Saturn RPGs worth playing are pricey. Although nothing a mod chip or swap trick can't handle.

And yes, the music is great. Motoi Sakuraba does music for some of the Tales games as well.

Yeah, I know everything about the prices, it hurts to see them going up steadily, especially the Saturn 2D fighters are much more expensive than 2 years ago, RPGs are pretty much the same but still quite pricey. For example, PAL Night Warriors Darkstalkers went for about 10 bucks on ebay in 2008/09, now, if you even find a copy, the go for 40 bucks or more which is insane, so instead I got the Japanese version (Vampire Hunter) for... 2 yen, in perfect condition.

I use the AR cart for imports. I'm also actually studying Japanese (let's say I'm close to JLPT 5 level), and video games will help me with that (and games are one of the incentives to learn the language too). I'm going to grab the Japanese versions of Shining Force III trilogy and Panzer Dragoon Saga soon, the SF translations will surely come in handy.

Also, about PDS, or Azel Panzer Dragoon RPG, the AR code that allows you to play the NTSC-J version on US/PAL machine apparently has been found after all those years :) Great news for someone who doesn't have a modded Saturn.

If anyone wants it, here it is:

B6002800 0000

I finished Final Fantasy XIII. Now I have to go and complete Persona 4.
