Re: Ever had games/console/ electronics stolen ?
When I was in high school someone broke into our house I stole my sega cd/model 1 genesis. Just the system though, no hookups, controllers or anything else. They also took some speakers, jewelry etc. Turns out it was some kids down the street, and we ended up getting some of the stuff back a few weeks later when they were trying to dump off/hide the stuff with other people around the neighborhood. I ended up getting the system back too, probably since they couldn't do anying with it without the 20x power adapters needed

Every time I look at this thread it just reminds me why I never lend anything out unless I'm willing to run the risk of never seeing it again.

In high school, I had 2 TI-83 calculators stolen out of my bag. I had the first one for 3 years before it got stolen, and I bought the second one to replace the first one... only to have it stolen a WEEK after I got it!! After that, I never brought a calculator to school again until college.

Oh man, not cool. Maybe next time just mention to her that she screwed up the pizza rather than steal from her. I mean, she was actually trying to be nice.Hobie-wan wrote: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=218

Re: Ever had games/console/ electronics stolen ?
Its not a theft, but back in my freshman year of high school, I had a good friend who I occasionally traded games with. It was always borrowing, and we'd return each others games and make another exchange.
Near the end of the year, I lent him Marvel Vs. Capcom for DC, and he lent me Timestalkers for the same. Time went by, the school year ended, and I never saw him again as I changed schools the following year. We forgot about it long enough that the trade became permanent.
I still have that copy of Timestalkers, though I obviously couldn't say what he did with MVC. He definitely got the better deal though.
For a full on theft, some prick stole my car stereo a few years back. My dad and I were living in a townhouse, in a neighborhood that deteriorated during our time there. One morning, when I was maybe 17, I woke up to find that some asshole busted out the passenger window of my truck and stole my damn stereo.
The only decent thing about the situation was that he took his time and removed it properly, rather than simply ripping it out and destroying all of the wiring.
Which, while we're on the subject, is exactly what happened to one my dad's cars a few months later in the same neighborhood.
And that reminds me, that a few years before that, another asshole broke out a window in my dad's jeep just to steal a god damn vhs tape.
Gah, I'm getting mad just thinking about that place. I loved that house, but the area had a lot of crime problems for a long time. Couple of years back I saw a girl get shot (in the arm) not 30 yards from my front door.
The place was finally starting to clean up again when I moved last year, but still...
Sorry for rambling like that. Sometimes you get memories without asking for them.

That reminds me that I lent a friend Killer Instinct and Mario cart (both for the snes) and he then lent it to his drug dealing friend who then apparently lent it to someone else and so on and so forth. Long story short I got KI back after about 3 years but never saw mario cart again, which was the game that I really wanted to see back. I'm more cautious about who I lend games to now.AznKhmerBoi wrote:how about this ha... So i lent a game to a friend who lent the game to another person that kept it. First off, this incident happened ten years ago, and my Karma bill has been paid in full. Second, there is alot more to the story regarding just how much her poor skills were affecting food cost, labor costs, and employee morale in general. This all affected my bottom line as kitchen manager, yet due to a fucked up hierarchy I had zero say in firing her, and had to basically let her do it herself. She was making my work life miserable, regardless of how nice she wanted to treat me this one particular day, which was atypical behavior for sure. 99% of every other interaction I had with her she was a selfish prick who screwed me over many times in many ways.Hobie-wan wrote: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=218

And yes, stealing is wrong, but the way I saw it she stole $10 from me by making me an inedible pizza, not to mention the cost of the product she wasted, which when added up over her employment got me bitched at by the owner more than once. And she was not a mother or had dependents, so I was not taking food off her family's table in any way, shape, or form. She had a boyfriend who was doing very well and basically supported her, she only had this part time job just for shits and giggles, which is about as seriously as she took it.
I'm no angel, but stealing anything from anyone is not a habit of mine. While not my proudest moment, it does not even come close to making my Big List Of Regrets. For the record, she got canned a few months later when she defied the big boss and no called no showed for an entire week. That is what it took to finally get rid of her... ugh, that's the most I have thought about that place for a long time and hopefully the last.
And to stay on topic, way back when some new neighborhood kid hung out at my house one day and my NES cart of Contra came up missing. a few days later he sheepishly shows up with his mom who apologizes and gives me fucking Deadly Towers in return for whatever reason. We all know what a pile of shit DT is. Luckily I had played Contra to death, but even being a new game could not make up for Deadly Towers awfulness. And how's this for karma... less than seven years later this guy got fucked up and blew his brains out. Have a nice day.

this is why i never keep anything worth stealing not even a dollar laying around inside my car, because youll never know if some asshole is willing to break you window and steal it. But yea man that place sounds like a horrible place to have good things.
