So, I finally mastered FPS games with 2 analog sticks

Post by Curlypaul »

^Title. Was pretty bored the other week so I decided to give Timesplitters 2 another shot. I had a go at playing it when I first got it in a bundle but quickly got frustated and gave up. Kept hearing about what a great game it was so I decided to have another go. Took me a good few hours to beat the first level but I finally got there and its a really good game.

Next up I started playing MoH: Frontline. Kind of bored of WW2 shooters but I wanted to play the D-day level. Also a very cool game and I fully intend to comeback and finish it off but right now Half-Life2 has me totally hooked. Its been a few years since a game has grabbed me like this one has. Love it.

So what other FPS games can I play with my newly found controller skills? I dont have a 360 or a PS3 so oXbox and PS1/2 suggestions please

Umm, the ones from the top of my head are Red Faction and Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

The Far Cry games on Xbox are pretty cool.

You can also get the Unreal Championship games on Xbox as well as Unreal Tournament on PS2. I hate UC2, but it's very cheap now, so it's worth a shot.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay on the XBOX. While it has some gunplay, I wouldn't classify it as a shooter; you do a lot more sneaking and hand-to-hand combat. It is more like a first-person, stealth game/prison break simulator.

It is incredibly immersive, and I consider it one of the very best games on the XBOX. Moreover, to someone who does not own an XBOX360 of PS3, the graphics are amazing.

You can teach me. :(

I hate dual-stick games, to this day I still can't play them. (Unless it's one of those bullet hell type games, but in 3D space? No chance.)

It always surprises me how many gamers today have trouble using two sticks at once. My younger brother has been gaming for years, and he still can't play a two stick FPS game for crap.

Halo 1 & 2, Red Faction.

For me 3D was a big shift and took a lot of getting used. After a while I could play Goldeneye and PerfectDark pretty well, then 2 sticks was another layer of complexity and I always put off learning out to do it because there of games that can be played with a keyboard and mouse and, more recently, a mote and chuck.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, keep em comin.

Is Killzone 1 worth getting? I'm hearing conflicting opinions on this one
