Keep the 64, mario kart 64 is still my favorite. I find cheap n64 games now compared to retail chains from the late 90's. Its best to play 64 games on a standard tv compared to hdtv, looks kinda odd especially on dreamcast. Tell your friend to cough up $100 for the console only no games, controllers.

Out of the two, due to the games available I like, I pick Gamecube. However, N64 is a great system, with a small amount of amazing quality titles. This dude you were talking to is...I shouldn't say that.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

Having both systems I can say keep the N64. I'm currently trying to build up my N64 collection with all of my childhood games and most are pretty cheap. The gamecube though tends to be a bit more expensive like the Zelda collectors edition etc.

Sure you can play Ocarina of time and majoras mask on GameCube but how are you gonna play:

Star Wars Shadows of the Empire
Goldeneye (WAY better than any james bond game after this)
Perfect Dark
Doom 64
Super Mario 64 (WAY better than sunshine)
Paper Mario
Star Fox 64 (WAY better than assault)
Turok 2
Rush series
Mario Kart 64(WAYWAYWAYWAYWAY better than double dash)
Better Resident Evil 2 (IMO)
Harvest moon 64

What the GameCube has over the 64 is:

Wind Waker
Phantasy Star Online
Resident Evil Remake
Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil 4
Metroid Prime
Metal Gear Solid
Luigis Mansion
Smash Bros Melee
Star Fox Adventures
Skies of Arcadia
Animal Crossing
And it can play every gameboy game.

So both FANTASTIC consoles but you have to decide. I find the 64 more enjoyable but thats just me.

Personally I was disappointed in both systems. Both only had a handful of titles that were interesting to play (almost all first party titles). If I had to choose between the two it would definitely be N64 over GCN. Pretty much the only games I cared about on GCN were Eternal Darkness and Wind Waker.

Quick question for you on this. I'm sure there are a few other games that interested you, but did they have ports you considered superior on other consoles, such as Resident Evil 2 on the N64 and Resident Evil 4 on GC?

Well the first thing I need to let people know is that I do NOT have a gamecube console. I have the wii and I was just going to pick up a few titles. As for the 64 I am going to keep the system, get 3 more controllers and an expansion pack. I just got mischief makers and f zero. The other titles I will find and look around. Since I am putting my money into the 64 I will have to wait to get the gamecube games I want unless I see the mega man collection and x collection.

Yes exactly, although I forgot about RE4, which I did play on the GC. RE2 I played on the DC. Ever since the N64 days, I've had all the consoles in each successive generation, so I wouldn't play them on the inferior console which is almost always Nintendo.

Ok. Thanks for answering my question.

I have to add though, the port of Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo 64 contains a few features not found in the other ports, like the EX-Notes and a few costumes. It's also compatible with the Expansion Pak and supports Dolby Surround Sound. It's worth checking out if you have a Nintendo 64, though due to your general lack of interest in the console I wouldn't suggest purchasing one just for it. I also own the DC port and have owned the PS1 port, and I was quite happy with both.
