I'm on stage 5 of Rondo and feeling conflicted about it.

On the one hand, its an awesome stage with music that I absolutely adore.

Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRHXEtfawVo

This game is just full of great music.

On the other hand, I'm stuck, as if I don't die at some point in the level, Death manages to wipe me out at the end.

Damn it. I had to take a break because I was getting pissed.

The game has a lot of cool features though. The "Technic" videos are cool and a nice use of the money you find. Not to mention surprising to find in a game of this age. I also love the ability to take different paths through the levels. Good stuff.

So question, is it "cheating" to use Maria? I find her a bit easier to use in certain parts over Richter, though I've been switching back and forth as the mood strikes me.

Gotta say though, Bloodlines has been my favorite CV so far, but Rondo's really starting to scratch a certain itch for me. It may just become my new favorite...

More Vay and FFVIII. The bosses on Vay are all super hard. I keep sailing along having a blast and then smack into a wall with each boss. Trying to take down a Danek base right now and this damn giant security robot is whooping me. He does so much damage with each hit.

Also got to disc 2 of FFVIII now. Trying to break out of prison currently.

So I swapped mischief makers out for Rayman. Mischeif makers keeps freezing and locking up and I CBA fighting with it (cleaned it several times now). I'm running low on 'classics' so I thought why not Rayman? Plus it means it'll get more play than parodius did, as I was more focused on this than parodius Together Retro.

Anyhow, played some more lately. Minor spoilers ahead maybe?

Final Fantasy IX - I'm in Lindblum trying to cure someone of the 'bug' they're suffering from. Im on disc 3. I have all 8 characters at last. Garnet's become mute.

Blazing Lasers - DAMN YOU LEVEL 9. I reached the level 1 boss twice, but trying to hold out for extra lives and bombs I died. Level 9 is really lacking in shield powerups :(. How long do I have to hold out for anyhow Ds?

Panzer Dragoon - Played through this, got to the final boss (on my 2nd time playing). I can see this being done with pretty soon. I've enjoyed the brief time i've had with it so far, glad I bought Zwei aswell.

Rayman - I'll post more in the Together Retro thread, but I've beaten about 4 levels, including the water rising one and the mosquito riding one. How long is this game?

Not especially long, and yes - the lack of shields on that level is disconcerting. On my victory run I managed to have a shield part of the time on level 9 but made it through the gauntlet right before the level 1 boss with the #3 laser in the configuration where it creates a box pattern around your ship while firing.

You can shoot the level 1 boss in that boss rush, but you can't kill any parts of it I don't think. I had to fend off a few of his bombs with my gun, so that might help.

Here's the video I saw beforehand where I learned about that little trick:

Finishing up Phantasy Star Portable either tonight or tomorrow. Then back to the challenge.

BTW: Why is everyone rocking a different avatar all of a sudden? I go away for a week and then I don't recognize any of you.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

a bunch of us decided that we wanted new avatars, but everyone "knew us" by our old ones. So then it became like a thing they'd we'd all just take the plunge on the same day (7/1) to fuck everyone up at once instead of in a staggered fashion.

Oh. Well I insist you guys switch back. You should all do it at once so as to stabilize everyone at one time instead of in a staggered fashion.

Nae, lad. I've made it this far without one. Too late to go back now.
