Question: How the Hell can you afford spending so much money on games being only 23 years old!?...

brunoafh wrote:The point is that that guy's collection is god damned ridiculous. Those games were pressed to be played, not to be thrown on a shelf for no good reason. I admit that I have a bit of the collector mentality going on, but stuff like this just makes me laugh to myself. Every one of those sealed copies he has could be getting perfectly good play time by someone like you or I. Instead they're just sitting in shrink wrap collecting dust so some guy can get some bizarre sense of satisfaction and be like "yeah... I'm awesome" every time he passes by his meaningless shelf of hoarded PS2 games.

edit: It's just the principal of it. I know it's not going to have any actual repercussions on gamers, but it's just so stupid.
agreed. I admit to collecting. I want my games to be CIB. I love limited editions and so on. But the main reason I collect games is so that I can play them. I just don't really understand this mentality.

I don't get why someone would fill a room with games they can't play AND THEN re-buy those same games so they can play them. WTF?

haven't you ever had a goal in life? ever?

i ran track and cross country in college. i ran countless miles- almost everyday for 4 years - and i am proud to say that i am a four time all-american. four years post college that means absolute shit because nobody could give a rats ass about that college accomplishment but myself. and every time i walk by those trophies i say to myself, "yeah...i'm awesome" because i worked my ass off and accomplished some goals. it is still a great feeling.

the same can apply to any goal, such as video game collecting. he had a goal in mind and he accomplished it. you are damn right that every time he walks by that shelf he thinks he is awesome because he is.
if you took a shit, please put it back

that's all fine and good. But like I said, it's not a goal I can particularly understand.

Not one as cool as dumping thousands on a game collection I can't play, I'm afraid.
*Track related goal*
It's funny you mention that, because I too hold titles in Track and Field events. I'm certainly no All-American, but I was (might still be?) the champion in my area for my event.

Still, holding a record for a physical sport and hoarding a mountain of sealed video games are hardly comparable. At least in my book.
