MY N-GAGE WORKS!!! After reading andymol21's post about the WSOD I thought that maybe that was the problem with my N-Gage. After a couple of google searches I learned about the "deep reset" method and after trying it my machine lives!!!
Damn your luck! I've been shorting every terminal i can find on the phone in an attempt to put it back to some sort of factory preset, no luck. Deep reseting only works if you can get into the phone right? I'm not gonna ask for assistance here as I've spent hours and hours on Google (and excite, my web searcher of choice until the Google domination) looking for any information to help. But if you've found a magical cure, don't hesitate to share!

Step 1: Soak it in boiling water for about 3 hours.

Step 2: Toss it in the freezer.

Step 3: Buy a PSP

What I did was, with the N-Gage turned off, hold the keys green/call, "3" and "*", and then turn it on while still holding the keys. It started up fine but it was too unstable and eventually returned to the dead state and that trick wouldn't work anymore. Then I tried to short-circuit thebattery connectors. I don't know if I was successful or not, but then I tried the first method (holding down the keys) and it started up again. This time instead of messing around I immediately did the deep reset method (*#7370#) and it's working well so far. I'm gonna try it out with some n-gage games, but the java and symbian ones I've tried so far worked fine.

Funny this thread should be started now. I was just considering getting an Ngage QD. How is it as a phone? Anyone have an unlocked one?

Also, anyone have Pocket Kingdom? That's the game that looks most interesting to me.

I'm a DS man myself :P The original idea for buying the ngage was to have a gaming system, an mp3 and a phone all in one in my pocket. In hindsight if I had waited a year or so I could have got a much better device than the ngage, the screen is a stupid portrait format and the headphone jack is one of those mini ones, but it was brilliant for it's time and a great deal now if you are looking for a simple portable gaming/music/phone all in one. I saw a couple on eBay for around 30 pounds :o

Yes the PSP is better but thats a bit like saying the ps3 is better than Apple ][ :P
Actually it's not really like that at all is it...

The PSP and PS3 will never be better than the Apple ][ because they don't have BRUCE LEE!

Im thinking about picking one of these up. I only see three games im really interested in though. The Elder Scrolls, Rifts and the Warhammer 40k game. Anyone know if those games are any good? Any other recommended games? How much can I expect to pay for an N-gage? I know there is a vendor at the local flea market that has a large stack of sealed games for $5 a pop but I dont think he has the system...Ill have to look through his games next time im there.

Never played Warhammer, but as for the others I can say that Rifts is a pretty good game. Never finished it because it was just huge, but I had a good time with it (sorry for not being more specific but I played it a long time ago and can't remember much). About The Elder Scrolls, I'm actually playing it now and, well, it's entertaining but nothing out of the ordinary. Has its share of problems, particularly technical ones (slowdowns, etc...), I think they were just too ambitious trying to jam a game of those dimensions into the N-Gage, but it's not terrible either. At least so far it hasn't been. Haven't played too much, but from what I've played I liked it.

I enjoyed the Elderscrolls I played, but Pocket Kingdom seems to be the best game on the system. If you can, try to play Elderscrolls multiplayer.

I got one just for Pocket Kingdom and while I haven't devoted much time to it yet, it seems very good.
