Is that why I've seen some oblivion copies with a t rating on the box? I brought it up to the cashier and they told me it was rated m.MrEco wrote:The ESRB rated all versions of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion an M after they found out that you could mod the game to have topless women. Even though you could only use that mod in the PC version. That's just stupid on so many levels.

They also found the blood and gore to be a bit too much for a T rating.MrEco wrote:The ESRB rated all versions of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion an M after they found out that you could mod the game to have topless women. Zone of the Enders on ps2 didnt seem to warrant a Mature rating, though i only watched a friend play though for a little bit. Also MGS 1,2 and 3 dont have enough violence or gore to warrant an M I feel.
Edit: Portal 2 is rated E, I know that there isnt really any violence, but the subject matter and comments by glaDOS are geared for the older crowd.

But ratings aren't supposed to reflect what's the target audience for the game, but what audiences should be allowed to play it.
Re: Games the ESRB/PEGI/CERO etc. rated wrong
I never understood Melee and Brawl having T ratings. The violence in those games is incredibly unrealisitic and very cartoon-like. It should've been E, or even E10, if they felt it was too violent for an E.

E10 didn't exist when melee came out. I remember that T rating for Melee causing a really minor stir back then.Grooter48 wrote:I never understood Melee and Brawl having T ratings. Fatal Frame contains nothing that I haven't seen in your average PG-13 horror flick. Why should it warrant anything higher?insanecow0 wrote:I think Fatal Frame was rated incorrectly, I still can't believe it's only a T, and Driver 3 probably could have gotten away with a T.
MGS has you snapping necks, a few pretty bloody scenes involving Grey Fox, and a dead body covered in maggots. MGS2 is just as bad there, and MGS3 even lets you rather violently cut people's throats with your survival knife. Sure it's all rather downplayed in the grand scheme of things, but it's still there. The 'M' makes sense to me.jay_red wrote:Zone of the Enders on ps2 didnt seem to warrant a Mature rating, though i only watched a friend play though for a little bit. I think that some kids 13 and under would not be mentally/emotionally mature enough to play it. I haven't seen a lot of horror films, but it's certainly way more intense than any PG-13 horror film I've seen.AppleQueso wrote:E10 didn't exist when melee came out. Insidious: Rated PG-13 for thematic material, violence, terror and frightening images, and brief strong language (The film is fucking scary)insanecow0 wrote:I think that some kids 13 and under would not be mentally/emotionally mature enough to play it. The Last Exorcism: Rated PG-13 for disturbing violent content and terror, some sexual references and thematic material
Ringu: UK15
Noroi: The Curse: Japan:PG-12 (Consider this, it's the most frightening film I've ever seen)
Kairo: Rated R for some violent images (There's only 1 violent scene in which SPOILERS: a character kills herself, otherwise the film is teen friendly)
Poltergeist: PG (A character rips his face off in graphic detail, many scary scenes, etc.)
Fatal Frame 1 only haves a single scene with blood and even then it's more tame than the only gory scene in The Last Exorcism.
As for Metal Gear Solid... the first 2 aren't that violent (Even though MGS2 haves some gory scenes) but MGS3 pumped the violence level a lot specially the scene were SPOILERS:Snake gets stabbed in the eye.
Zone Of The Enders does have some bloody scenes that involve innocent people and children so maybe that's why it's M.

Well it's a good thing that 'T' means 13 and over then isn't it?insanecow0 wrote:I think that some kids 13 and under would not be mentally/emotionally mature enough to play it. Also see KillerJuan77's post above. Being "intense" isn't enough to warrant an M rating.
