yeah, although MM looks similar to OOT, I far prefer the story and mood of MM.

....and Gunhed/Blazing Lazers has been tamed. This shmup is really very easy until the last level, where there are 2 parts that are just unforgiving and can make you lose all your powerups. I held to the shield and laser 3 as much as I could throughout. On the victory run it was maddening to see how close I had gotten to the final boss previously, but in my frustration I went online to look at some runs and learned the neat (if fairly useless) trick below :) FYI, the final boss is a pushover in each of its forms.

PROTIP: Don't shoot at the level one boss in the boss rush. If you just dodge attacks for a few minutes the game rewards you with many lives and bombs, which makes the final boss of the game even more of a joke. Of course GETTING to this boss in the boss rush was the tough part.

Also, this was an awesome boss design:

back from my vacation. Did a fair amount of gaming...none of it challenge related. I need to pick up the pace.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

OOT is far more consistent throughout than Wind Waker. Doesn't have the annoying triforce piece hunt either. I love Wind Waker though.

Twilight Princess? lolno.

Well since you've carried that out I'll throw in my 2 cents again. OoT is my favorite game of the 3D ones because it's the most traditional or old school in a sense. It's a lot more comparable to the Zelda's that came before it in that it's mostly all about random exploring, being on your own, and dungeons. Dungeons everywhere, and that's what I love about my Zelda's. From there on, the series has gotten a little more fetch quest complicated, threw in some gimmicks or weird idea's here and there, and yeah.

Not to say I dislike the other 3D ones one bit, I absolutely love Majora's Mask and am rooting for it to get the 3DS treatment as well (and people that complain about the Water Temple obviously probably didn't get to the 4th dungeon in MM, now that dungeon will make you cry!) and I liked Twilight Princess a lot, which kind of felt like a more old school Zelda... but just wasn't as solid all around. Wind Waker is alright, but so damn easy. That's my biggest complaint for that one and the rupee hunt and sneaking around segments sucked.

As for the handheld ones, I don't even like to compare the Minish Cap and the ones that came after to the games that came before. Feels like a completely different series, LA, Ages and Seasons blow those games out of the water to me.

I always liked MM better than OOT also. WW has never really done anything for me though. I like the art style, but thats about it.

I'll also chime in and say that noise should give Banjo-Kazooie a try. Its one of my favorite platformers. I had the opposite experience with the N64/PS. All my friends bought PS after it launched and we played a ton of different games. When I could finally afford to purchase a new system it was the N64 all the way even though I hadnt even tried one yet other than Mario Kart 64. I'm normally not a graphics guy, but I find many PS games to be so ugly it detracts from the game. The N64 just seemed to have more polish and I could actually tell what everything on the screen was supposed to be.

Finally had a chance to start up Vay, and man is it awesome! The music is fantastic and the battle system is fairly plain, but super fast. Its got tons of Working Design flavor spread though it (lots of gags throughout and even breaking the 4th wall a few times). "You'll notice that this castle has the same layout as your home's castle. Thats because our kingdoms are such good allies. Also because the developers wanted to save some disc space". I love talking to each NPC because there are a couple in each town that say silly things like that.
