Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
Ooh, Sevin is going to be so disappointed when he finds this page. I liked the N64, but obviously, my heart is with the Gamecube. I got my gaming legs on the N64, so it has a special place in my heart. But, to me, the Cube has more personality and games that I am interested in.

I think sev knows I'm not a N64 fan. I jumped back to Nintendo when GCN came out too, but I was always really into PS1 and PS2. PS2 was the last system I bought at launch even.lisalover1 wrote:Ooh, Sevin is going to be so disappointed when he finds this page. I liked the N64, but obviously, my heart is with the Gamecube. I started up Rondo of Blood today.
I've heard some people (not here) refer to this game as overrated. To those people I say, what the hell game were you playing? 'Cause this is awesome.
The game is gorgeous to look at, (though I've never played a Castlevania that wasn't eye sex) and fun as hell.
I was having a blast playing, thinking it wasn't as difficult as other games in the series. Then I got to the boss of stage 3, an axe wielding minotaur, and he wiped me out.
I'll get the bastard next time.
Its just a shame I can't understand any of the text or dialogue. Oh well.
Side note: 1000th post! Woo!

Enjoy it man. Such greatness.CFFJR wrote:I started up Rondo of Blood today.
I take it you're playing the original PCE version, being that it's in Japanese? I prefer that one to the PSP remake, to be honest (the original version is included in the PSP game however, so it's still a worthy purchase). I think it's just Richter's character model. They messed it up in the 2.5D remake. He looks so badass in the original. Don't worry about missing out on the dialogue, you aren't missing much, trust me.

Yeah it is the PCE version, but via the Wii's Virtual Console. I'm afraid I don't have a PC Engine just yet, but I will buy a Duo one day.brunoafh wrote:Enjoy it man. Such greatness.CFFJR wrote:I started up Rondo of Blood today.

I thought about getting the psp version originally but decided I wanted to play the original game. Though until you told me just now I didn't know they included the original as well, I thought it was only the remake, so I may pick it up one day.
Richter is indeed badass. He definitely has the best design of all the CV leads (though I like John Morris a lot too). I love that backflip he can do. So cool.
I'm glad to know I'm not missing much on the dialogue. Can't help but be curious though. The scene where he rescued Maria was kind of odd. I have no idea what happened there.

He kicks ass in SoTN.
What program do you guys use to burn PCE games? ... random question but kind of on the current topic, lol.

I must admit that I did not know you didn't like the Nintendo 64. I used to think the console really wasn't that great, but I started exploring its library a bit more in the last few years and found quite a bit that piqued my interest.noiseredux wrote:I think sev knows I'm not a N64 fan. it's not so much that I don't LIKE It, but more that I... I don't know how to explain. Seeing my friend's N64 at the time, I always preferred the games that I had on PS1. And then when I got a GameCube I was kind of like "oooh now THIS is what I wanted the N64 to be like." A perfect example is Zelda. Believe it or not OOT is probably my least favorite Zelda. I hate the art style of it, and it never managed to suck me in for whatever reason. But Wind Waker I think is beautiful, and charming and I loved it from minute-one.Ack wrote: I must admit that I did not know you didn't like the Nintendo 64. So I just beat Adventure. It took like 5 minutes. I feel bad counting it, but I really thought it might be a longer game. It was ok while it lasted.

That doesn't surprise me a bit.noiseredux wrote:Believe it or not OOT is probably my least favorite Zelda. I hate the art style of it, and it never managed to suck me in for whatever reason. But Wind Waker I think is beautiful, and charming and I loved it from minute-one.
People talk about OoT as though it were the greatest thing in the history of ever, but its no great shakes.
Wind Waker is the better game. And while we're on 3d Zelda, Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess are also superior.
That's too bad.dsheinem wrote:So I just beat Adventure. It took like 5 minutes. I feel bad counting it, but I really thought it might be a longer game. It was ok while it lasted.
