Where do you do your online shopping?

walmart, buy.com, Sears, Target,Circuit City(which I thought went bankrupt?), also ebay.

Circuit City (and CompUSA) are coming back to the brick-n-mortar store front, but after they crashed, went online-only. I think they are also partnered up with TigerDirect?

As far as I know, Amazon not only is their own superstore, but they also allow other stores to sell through them (Target, Sears, etc.) -- though you might not be getting the sale-prices were you to buy from Sears.com or Target.com.

I still look to eBay, Amazon, and eCost (which is a lot of refurbished goods). I'd be interested in Penny Auctions were any actually accredited by the BBB.org.

While we're on the topic, are there any good internet grocery stores? You'd think you could buy non-perishibles in bulk over the internet and avoid the overhead of brick and mortar. But when I've looked, I've found nothing that's price competetive with the local chains.

I am amazed how people are loyal to amazon, almost every online shopper goes from there I guess, talk about brand loyalty...

I usually hate it when one company gets all the action, i think sooner or later they will turn evil, i always try to support the underdog,
but in all honesty, amazon is so good, I can hardly make a recommendation. Its almost perfect!

I think I once read here that salvation army sell rare items for very cheap prices.

I typically stick to amazon, but if I find something I want elsewhere, I'll get it.

It depends entirely on what I'm looking for and who actually has the damn thing. I've bought from plenty of places for a variety of reasons, so...

I do go on ebay occasionally, but in general I avoid it. There's stuff I want that I've only been able to find on ebay and haven't bought because I'm a bit paranoid about international auctions there.

They start talking about shipping costs and stuff going through customs in broken english and I can't help getting worried and going somewhere else.

Turns out the California legislation does not affect the buyers, just the sellers. Amazon canceled all the sellers that are in California, just like they canceled a few other states that imposed online sells taxes. Bad for the sellers and anyone wanting to buy from a business that has a California address. Good that Amazon is making a stand, keeps any online Amazon merchandise from being taxed. So California will actually be losing money due to businesses not contributing back into the economy. Its just sad that the independent business such as Inazuma that rely on Amazon backing gets affected by this stupid law.

Amazon and reliable members here. California is in the process of passing legislation to Tax online sales such as Amazon. I wonder if PayPal transactions would get affected.

Yep. They actually just passed the law yesterday. And in response, Amazon terminated every CA based affiliate they had, myself included. I don't blame Amazon. I am more upset at CA for passing more fucking tax laws.

CA state sales tax is something absurd like 10%. So if we have to pay that for online sales, it makes them a lot more expensive.

Thankfully for me, I buy mostly from Japan and Hong Kong.

Oh, it's not that big of a deal for me. I was only making maybe $5 a month with the Amazon affiliate program. I feel bad for the people who make most of their money from Amazon.
