I dunno. I'd guess those games just weren't that good. Reggie said that was why Disaster wasn't coming over right? I played the original Another Code and while it was alright, it really wasn't good enough to warrant a sequel.KillerJuan77 wrote:I know, but it end ups being better to just hack your console while importing the games. The same thing happened with Disaster: Day Of Crisis and the sequel to Trace Memories, NOA seems to give 2 fucks about fan base.Bradtemple87 wrote:Like my other posts stated, this is not about hacking. This is about Nintendo saying "fuck off/ we don't care", when Xenoblade for example, is already translated into English.KillerJuan77 wrote:That's why I hacked my Wii, now I can play Xenoblade, The Last Story, Fatal Frame IV, Disaster and Pandora's Tower.

equalsign wrote:As much as I'd like to play Xenoblade, have you guys been reading Nintendo's facebook page along with all the comments on the major gaming outlets? So many people have been saying "You're forcing me to steal the game then!" and "Screw you Nintendo I'm modding my Wii and will not pay for your games until you bring these games over!" and "This is why I modded my Wii a long time ago! If you don't know how - *insert link to Wii mod guide*." It's ridiculous.
I'm not trying to call anyone in this thread out, but I get the feeling that many of those people were already planning on stealing the game and have already stolen games (please no piracy vs theft arguments). I kinda have to side with NOA on this one. I don't think this game would have sold well. I think too much of its audience is too hip on modding and no longer ready to shell out 50 for a Wii game. It sucks for those of us who thought the game looked cool and aren't liars and jerks.
As you can see from earlier in the thread, I wholeheartedly agree. The percentage of people whinging about these games that actually would have shelled out money for them (what, 49.99 each, 59.99 each?) is ridiculously small. Is NOA going to pander to a crowd that has done nothing but spit on the Wii, and yet steals games out of some misguided sense of spite?irixith wrote:The sad truth of the matter is that the majority of the folks who know about and have interest in these titles would steal them at release anyway. These are not mainstream reach-every-household games.
No.

I'm not really interested in these titles but I am pretty pleased Nintendo stepped up and published Dragon Quest VI, and IX here in the USA after Square Enix bailed on them.

I wouldn't have a problem if nintendo would unhand the distribution rights to games they don't want to publish.
I'm sure a company like XSeed would've been happy to bring over Fatal Frame IV or Xenoblade.

What madness? Sell control of something? That would just be crazy. Couldn't possibly work out. Nope. If we're not in control of everything we just don't feel right.AppleQueso wrote:I wouldn't have a problem if nintendo would unhand the distribution rights to games they don't want to publish.

"Look for more updates to come soon" is "enthusiastic company rep" lingo for "hang on, I'll get back to you."Original_Name wrote:Perhaps I've let the frustration of the people here get to me, but prefacing the denial of plans for these games with "Hey fans, we appreciate your enthusiasm. Look for more updates to come soon!" a week beforehand just seems needlessly insensitive considering these peoples' expectations. Granted, that could very well have been simply meaning well and communicating poorly. My comment was coming more out of questioning the way certain people view companies that they feel have wronged them in general than personal outrage at Nintendo -- because the outrage seemed pretty much unanimous, I just went with the general consensus for the "what Nintendo did was inexcusable" comment in my phrasing of my orientation towards capitalist ethics.
Imagine you're speaking to a clerk at a department store, and they aren't selling something you want to buy. You ask the clerk if the store can special order it. "You know, maybe, I'm not sure. Hold on, I'll go check with the manager. Don't go away!" Then, sometime later, "Thanks for waiting! I'm so sorry, but we can't do that right now. But thank you for being our loyal customer!"
Did the clerk get your hopes up when he went to his manager? Probably. Was he being inconsiderate? Quite the opposite. This is more or less the same situation, but on a larger scale. For what it's worth, I've been the clerk in a scenario like that one, and it's a tough spot to be in.
@Yomomma1: I understand what you're attempting to show with the limited sources we have available to us, but Nintendo has the real numbers, and they also know how much it would cost to sell the games here. They're a business out to make money, so it should go without saying that if they had reason to think these games would make money in the U.S. they would be selling them here.

Some of the few games I wanted for the Wii. Mine is soft modded. Will i be able to easily import/play the PAL release? I usually only import from Japan.

If your TV supports PAL (I recently found out that mine does) then it will be super easy. If not, you may need to use a loader that will allow you to force the games into NTSC mode.ZenErik wrote:Some of the few games I wanted for the Wii. Mine is soft modded. Use Gecko OS on the Homebrew Channel, I owned Disaster Day Of Crisis (English PAL version, had to sell it, fucking debts) and it was incredibly easy to boot the game on NTSC mode. Now with that said... DON'T USE CHEATS, WE DON'T LIKE CHEATERSZenErik wrote:Some of the few games I wanted for the Wii. Mine is soft modded. Will i be able to easily import/play the PAL release? Re: Nintendo is SCREWING the US
Nintendo will already have english translations for the game manual and box and facilities to produce them. They already have 60hz versions of the games. Mass producing and distributing dvds, cases, and manuals should not cost that much. The cost should be well covered by charging $20 to $50 a game. Since they aren't even planning to release them in the US, they must feel pretty confident that the development cost is already going to be covered by Japan and Europe. As long as they don't go overboard on advertizing, I don't see how Nintendo could not make money in the US.flamepanther wrote:They're a business out to make money, so it should go without saying that if they had reason to think these games would make money in the U.S. they would be selling them here.
I think that they believe the games won't make "enough" money and are too lazy to do a small profit release for the fans, but I don't know for certain of course.
