PSP Battery Died - Suggested replacements?

Post by Xeogred »

Well after buying FFIV Complete last night I quickly discovered that it seems like my PSP Battery is flat out dead. It's a 1001 model so it is really old and it's sat in a box for years, that probably didn't help either. But yeah, I essentially can't even play FFIV because the system can't update with this "low battery" (gives me a lame message during the update process), even with the AC adapter plugged in I still can't update the game (and I left it plugged in all last night). Without the AC adapter plugged in the system won't start up at all.

So I guess I need a replacement and just wanted suggestions. Would I be fine getting this one? It matches the numbers on my battery and all (I'd probably contact the seller to double check).

I asked my friend today if they sold the official ones at Best Buy ... $45. Uh, no thanks.

Check out Target, the one I live by has PSP accessories on clearance. I think they're selling first party batteries for $7.

Not my models, and the numbers on mine are:

3.6v
1800 mAh

If any of that matters, are all the batteries the same size?

@Croooow!: I could give them a shot, but wow... I actually went there yesterday first before Best Buy looking for FFIV Complete, and the store by me has completely stripped down it's gaming section to practically nothing. I imagine Best Buy across the street is killing them in terms of that or something. There was one aisle back to back for PS3, PSP, DS, and 3DS games, then half an aisle for 360 games that were purely brand new crappy releases and nothing else. lol, but yeah I'll check them out and see if they've got some accessories on sale.

The Target's hear have a decent selection on everything but PSP games. The most I've ever seen them carry is around eight. Sadly the Best Buy's are the same way here, they pale in comparison to every other systems selection. If you don't find anything let me know and maybe I'll buy the rest of the batteries and sell them here.

This is true. As long as the voltage is the same, the battery should work fine.

The PSP 1000 uses larger batteries though, so you may want to check if smaller batteries will fit in it properly? Either way, the eBay link vlame posted says it's for a fat PSP, so it shouldn't matter.

Wow, this is funny stuff. Right after I ordered another one for $5... I woke up today to see that my PSP had that orange glowing dot again, and ... it works! So all it needed was TWO FULL DAYS of charging. Wow... :x

Right after I ordered another one too, blah.
