I may have asked this before, but I don't remember.
So, anyone else has one?
Ivo.
Am I the only one here with an N-Gage?

Right now I don't have one (or at least a working one), but back in the day I was a huge N-Gage fan. I really loved the system. I don't play much outside and I'm not a cellphone addict either, so that little machine completely covered all my needs. My first one had a fatal encounter with the washing machine, but I immediately replaced it for a new one. Eventually the 2nd one also died on me, one day it just stopped working, and by that time I thought that I could go for a newer phone, with a camera and all that, instead of buying a 3rd one.
I kind of miss it, though... Right now I'm thinking about buying a Nokia N81, the "spiritual successor" of the N-Gage, anyone has one?

If you give it a chance (and get it cheap) you will realize it's actually decent. It was bad for the price when it came out, I'll grant you that, but even then if you were getting a phone on some provider's expense, might as well be the N-Gage QD. Playing Java games on a better form factor beats fancy stuff if you mostly just use the mobile you have for talking and gaming (as opposed to taking pics with it and so on).
Ivo.
I have an N-Gage QD, 19 games and a couple of 2GB MMC cards for loading up the other stuff I don't have.
Incidentally, I think I sold my previous QD to Ivo, and then I just had to have another
. The bundle was hard to pass up.
I would agree with others here: The N-Gage was overlooked when you think of the sum of its functions. The gaming was great with platformers and most of the 3D games. Sports titles are lacking (NCAA Football 2004 isn't so great), but the soccer/football ones are nice. I've also discovered all of the other Symbian-related Java games that are out there.
I also have a Nokia E90 Communicator, on which N-Gage games sometimes DO work! So, the N81 plays the games well?
FWIW, I have a recent set of N-Gage games that are formatted in the vein of those Goodxxx (SNES, NES, TG16, etc.) if you'd like 'em.

I had one of the original "Taco" models. I loved that thing so much! Had a GBC emulator on it, can't remember what one, and loads of the games. Unfortunatly, i got over ambitious and filled it to the brim with data, resulting in the WSOD (people with original N-Gages will know what i mean). I reflashed it once and it worked fine but it happened again about 3 months later and no amount of reflashing was gonna bring it back! I still have it in my drawer and take it out once in a while to see if it has magically fixed itself while sitting there... It never does
It really was a very comfortable device to use, d-pad is to this day one of the best ive used on any console, ever! Replaced it with a WM6 based smartphone, means i get more emulators and more speed, but it's nowhere near as comfy to play for long periods of time!

Yep, you sold me the one I have. And went and got another - so if anyone wants to make fun of someone in the thread, Crisis is your mancrisis wrote:I have an N-Gage QD, 19 games and a couple of 2GB MMC cards for loading up the other stuff I don't have.

MY N-GAGE WORKS!!! After reading andymol21's post about the WSOD I thought that maybe that was the problem with my N-Gage. After a couple of google searches I learned about the "deep reset" method and after trying it my machine lives!!!
It's times like this that I'm glad for always keeping my things, even if they don't work.
So, no Ivo, you're definitely not the only one with an N-Gage!
