Xenoblade is finally out!
Re: Xenoblade 19 min trailer. I beg you to watch. Updated
I was wondering about the 50hz thing too. Anyone have the low down on that? I'm clueless when it comes to that stuff.
Re: Xenoblade 19 min trailer. I beg you to watch. Updated
I'm casually looking into it, but it's sounding really easy to soft mod Wii's to be region free, play backups, etc. Has anyone here done that or made up a guide, or knows of a good one to follow?
But then, would the PAL differences still apply if you're playing through an NTSC machine?
Still, thank god at least we're getting Xenoblade / The Last Story in some fashion. I also thought the idea of keeping the Monado name for the (potential but probably not anymore) US release could have been a bad move as well on sales and publicity. Even though I'm sure the average informed gamer would know it's Xenoblade, yeah ... the Xenoblade name would probably stand out a lot more on shelves, at least I'd think.
I'm also willing to bet 99% that The Last Story will be dual audio as well, since Mistwalker seems to be doing that with their big titles so far. Another plus for me.

It's easy to make your Wii region-free, but the problem with playing PAL games has to do with your TV itself, I think.

I was reading a thread about this on Reddit and the general consensus seemed to be that playing PAL games on a soft-modded NTSC Wii could be done by loading an ISO image from a USB drive. Apparently by using this method you can force the video output mode to what you want. Several people claimed to be doing it however one guy warned that if the ISO image you load has a built-in PAL firmware update on it, you'll have to strip it out somehow because you'll brick your NTSC Wii if it tries to apply it.brunoafh wrote:It's easy to make your Wii region-free, but the problem with playing PAL games has to do with your TV itself, I think.
In any case, I'm sure there will be plenty of tutorials on how to play these games on NTSC-U Wii's once they are released in Europe given the large following they have.

I'm playing the game right now on my modded Wii. So far I think this is the best RPG on the Wii. Its going to be a damn shame if Nintendo neglects to bring the game to the states.
Maybe they have something else in mind though.... maybe an updated release for the Wii U could be planned... that would make up for things I think.

My Wii is softmodded and I load all my games from an external HDD, the program used to load these games has options to force PAL to play at an NTSC rate and vice versa. So I'll be getting Xenoblade this September, maybe earlier!

That's interesting. I hate that I'm probably going to have to jump through fucking hoops and play ISOs on a modded console to enjoy these games. I'm not entirely opposed to just buying and playing the NTSC-J games really, but for these games I'm actually quite interested in the stories and would really like to pick up on every bit of text.bmoc wrote:I was reading a thread about this on Reddit and the general consensus seemed to be that playing PAL games on a soft-modded NTSC Wii could be done by loading an ISO image from a USB drive. Yeah, I think I might be down for it.
I mean, the worst that can happen is it will brick the Wii. If it bricked my PC, my PS3, or hell, even my Neo Geo Pocket, I might be worried - but my Wii? It may as well already be bricked.

I was actually seeing people say soft modding it makes it less-brickable... somehow? haha.
Well I'm sure we'll be talking a lot about this come this September. Take my money NoE.
I hope import sales are huge.
