The copy of Mechwarrior 2 I have is for Mac OS. I'm not sure where my DOS copy went - I have Mercenaries, Netmech, and Ghost Bear's Legacy for DOS...but musta loaned out the basic game at some point and never got it back :/Breetai wrote:Windows 3.11

There was a Win95 version too though. Plus all the later modified ones with actual texture maps that were bundled with graphics cards.

Man, I've really been meaning to bust out my Windows 3x PC for some time now. I still have my collection of 5 1/4'' and 3 1/2'' disc games. I think the nostalgia of booting that thing up might hit me hard enough to knock me out of my chair.Breetai wrote:Windows 3.11

Have you seen HXRT? It's like Win32s for DOS.Hobie-wan wrote: But are you running the 32s like all the cool kids?
There's a ton of different versions of that game. I need to find the 3dfx version for my glide rig.isiolia wrote:The copy of Mechwarrior 2 I have is for Mac OS.Breetai wrote:

I think I got rid of win 98 around the same time as my 56k modem.

I have a.. well.. gutted system that begs to differ.AppleQueso wrote:I imagine most win98 machines can handle an xp install.
AMD K6-2 350-400 MHz with only 192MB of RAM. I believe XP requires much more memory to operate. (And, I should really update my for-sale topic, but this system is free to anyone who'd be crazy enough to ship it.)
I have an XP-based system with a 9x partition, but I wouldn't suggest using a computer running 9x as a primary multi-function machine. (Mainly because the hardware would be too old -- I can't imagine there are drivers for 9x beyond the Pentium-III line.)
Wha..? Holee... This might mean my 486 can be more than just a footstool?

Re: What operating system are you running?
I had XP running on a Celeron 333 with 256 memory ok as a test. I could even play a high quality movie rip on it without stuttering. Granted I had all the interface BS turned off and no extra crap installed and running in the background so it was super lean. For most people or an off the shelf name brand PC with all the preloaded crap, XP would be ass, yes. XP needs at least 512 on a 'normal' PC to be usable.pakopako wrote: AMD K6-2 350-400 MHz with only 192MB of RAM. I believe XP requires much more memory to operate.
