Together Retro: Gradius III / Parodius
Re: Together Retro: Gradius III / Parodius
I like Gradius, even the arcade one. It's a much cooler game than the SNES port, although the latter is by far easier. Although I haven't yet gotten to the end on Normal on the SNES port, I don't think I'm going to put it down as quickly as I put down Zoop after May ended!

Re: Together Retro: Gradius III / Parodius
I'm kind of pissed that we finally did a double-Shmup month and I barely played. My intention was to play Gradius III for 2 weeks and Parodius for 2 weeks. I got soooo mad at Gradius III that I only bothered like maybe three or four times. Instead I focused mostly on my Summer Gaming Challenge games. Well once the 2nd half of the month rolled around I picked up Parodius a couple of times (which I love BTW) but I really didn't give it the attention it deserved since I've been caught up with Summer Gaming.

Same thing happened to me, though I do intend to play Parodius a bit in the next day or two.noiseredux wrote:I'm kind of pissed that we finally did a double-Shmup month and I barely played. I have played both these game series an endless amount of times so I didn't feel to compelled to participate in this months together retro (although to be fair I rarely do anyways).
However, they are excellent shumps and if anyone is reading through this thread and hasn't tried them out, I recommend that you do.

Same here, between vacation, being busy, and just not being in the mood for shmups recently, I've barely played any GIII and no Parodious at all.noiseredux wrote:I'm kind of pissed that we finally did a double-Shmup month and I barely played.

I finally got Gradius III and IV for PS2, so I'll be able to legitimately join this TR now.

What do you mean I'm 6 months too late?

IV is very doable if I remember right though. That one, Gaiden, and III (SNES) I can usually finish for sure. But III arcade is just hilariously extreme... and V is balls to the wall later on, I still have never been able to beat that one.

We should carry this over to January
Gradius 3 is my all time favorite shmup next to U.N. Squadron.
