I still read a couple of titles that manage to surprise me from time to time: Irredeemable and The Boys. Both are still on going, and both had dips in the story quality (particularly The Boys, which also falls into the "gore/sex/violence shock value" trap from time to time), but as a whole, they're fairly okay.
As for their specific spoilers, in Irredeemable, I like the explanation as to how the Superman-like character was able to shit in the face of physics RE how he is able to lift a huge oil tanker over his head without breaking it (which is what should have happened, no matter how strong he is). Basically, he's more similar to The Molecule Man than Kal El.
In The Boys, there are twists and turns here and there, but I imagine it's still winding up for the big one since it's nearing its final/75th issue.
Off tangent, but I noticed a lot of titles that were really good ran for 75 issues (not counting mini-specials and crossovers). E.g. Lucifer, Sandman, Preacher.
75 seems to be the ideal length for a series, kinda like 3 minutes seems to be the ideal length for a pop song (not too short, not too long).

WHAT? I only read the first 3 YTLM trades... i'm not really upset, but damn, I did not need to know that.Killing Agent 355!!!!!
My most shocking comics moment was when I realized $2.99 was going to be the minimum price for a mainstream comic book, with many of my favorite titles and specials going for $3.99 and up.

this I agree with.Hobie-wan wrote: I tend to stay out of the "Top X of Y" threads because they're tiresome. Dave Letterman's top 10 lists became cliches years ago and then became parodies of themselves where they knew people weren't really paying attention much by #1, so the best ones were usually in the middle. Lots of new members on any forum or with a new blog seem to post these sorts of things. Regulars tend to be tired of them and hopefully they get them out of their system.

Read what you wrote. Are you really not meaning not to offend anyone now? Don't take it so personally man!BurningDoom wrote:Or people can pull the sticks out of their butts. It's not like any of those things were meant to offend anyone.
It's also not a matter of offense, it's a matter of not ruining the surprise to someone who hasn't read that specific comic book because not everyone has read every single comic book out there, and most people don't even read many comic books.

Easy man. I took the stick out of my butt (didn't even know it was there) and I feel much better.General_Norris wrote:Are you really not meaning not to offend anyone now? Don't take
Maybe there should just be "the comic thread(Honk Honk! Spoiler Goose warning)" for those who enjoy them. I for one, wouldn't mind talking about favorite comic runs, authors, crossovers, events and what my premise would be if Marvel let me write a What-If? book.
But back on topic, I was shocked how awful the finale of WWHulk was. Romita dialed that shit in big time.
