Yeah I originally had a 20GB, the number of SKUs this generation on PS3 and 360 are astounding.noiseredux wrote:you probably had a launch model, right? The 20GB or 60GB? I'm under the impression that the "software BC" revision models were more dependable. I think those came in what? 40GB and 80GB flavors or something?
How easy is it to migrate from one PS3 to another?

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I wouldn't touch a 20GB now, because it didnt' even have WiFi
but yeah, if I were gonna mess with a BC model, I'd probably opt for the 2nd iteration that used some software emulation too. Less mechanical parts to worry about.

That's interesting because I've always heard that the 60GB model was the one to have because the hardware emulation was less glitchy. (I could very well be wrong) Nearly bought one myself when I decided to get a PS3 but some USPS employee decided that they needed it more than me.noiseredux wrote:I wouldn't touch a 20GB now, because it didnt' even have WiFibut yeah, if I were gonna mess with a BC model, I'd probably opt for the 2nd iteration that used some software emulation too. I am going to upgrade from my launch 60GB unit to a 160GB slim. However I already upgraded my hard drive on my fat system to 320GB a couple years back. Can I simply take the hard drive out of my fat and put it in my slim and be good to go? (Likewise I would take the 160GB hard drive and put it back in the fat). Will this plan work?

No. The PS3 will attempt to format the drive when you change it. You'll need to back up the contents first, allow the PS3 to format the drive, and restore. Be sure to authorize your new PS3 as well, or none of your downloaded content will work.Purkeynator wrote:I am going to upgrade from my launch 60GB unit to a 160GB slim.
