Best achievements/trophies
Starting playing Dishwasher Vampire Smiles today, which if f**ing awesome, and it reminded me that they are games out there that actually have good achievements/trophies. So name some of your favorites. There's a great one in this game called Game Reviewers Shall Be Pleased that requires you to unlock PRETTY PRINCESS DIFFICULTY

I normally don't care for acheivements that are just milestones in the game, but I like it when they have clever names. Like in Enslaved, I liked "Smokey Bacon."

My personal favorite is from Red Dead Redemption. The name is "Heading South on a White Bronco." To get it, you have to evade the US Marshals while riding the Hungarian Half-Bred horse in Single Player into Mexico.
What I find so funny about it is that it's a reference to OJ Simpson when he ran from the police back in the mid 1990s.

I loved the achievements on Heavy Rain.
As for terrible achievements... http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game ... -xi/guide/
18 level 75 characters takes about 10000 hours of gameplay if you're lucky.

"Place a hogtied woman on the train tracks, and witness her death by train."
Uncharted series had fun with achievements as well - I especially liked getting the "Marco!" and "Polo!" medals just for jumping into the pool and listening to the conversation between Drake and Chloe. It also helped that, unlike other games, achievements in Uncharted 1 & 2 actually got you access to some pretty bad ass cheats.

In the past, it'd depend on if you were considering hours put into an account period, or purely XP'ing - if total, then sure. It not, you'd have had to be remarkably bad at getting XP parties to spend that much time on it (it'd be an average of about 1.5k XP/hr). It'd take less time to solo, post FoV.
With Abyssea XP...you'd probably be looking at between 300 and 600 hours, depending, to get all jobs to 90. A fair bit less to just get 75 for the achievements. Still quite a lot of grinding, but relative to the rest of the game, not all that much.

Re: Best achievements/trophies
The best achievement ever is easily "Little Rocket Man" from Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
Which, if you don't know, is for carrying the little garden gnome you find in a shed at the beginning of the game with you, for the entire game, and putting it into the rocket at the end of the game before it takes off.

Has gotten progressively moreso over the years, but it's still optimally a multi-player game.KillerJuan77 wrote:So, the game is solo friendly now?isiolia wrote:Not anymore.KillerJuan77 wrote: As for terrible achievements... http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game ... -xi/guide/

I haven't played since March, and there was a large outside-Abyssea XP bump then, so I'm not exactly sure what soloing can net now. It wasn't hard to push 5k/hr for most of the level range before though (including FoV). 10k/hr+ soloing would not surprise me.
Abyssea XP takes a little time to build up, but can easily peak at 120-150k/hr. For (potentially) an entire alliance. XP gets cut for lower levels, but caps at -100 per kill and slowly fades. The bigger issue for leeching is having done limit breaks.
XP in general is pretty much a joke for any established player though. Actually skilling up and all...that's the tedium.

Re: Best achievements/trophies
In Brutal Legend, there is an achievement for riding a half-warthog, half-motorcycle monster from the tip of the northwest corner of the map aaaaaallllllllll the way down to the southeast corner of the map; the only catch is that you can't hit anything, or else the beast will explode, and you can't go anything less than top speed. Also, at the very end, you have to jump off at the very last second to send the monster zooming off a ramp into an ocean of blood, while you stand on the edge to watch. Now THAT is an achievement.
As for the stupidest achievement, Deathsmiles for the 360 gives you an achievement for PAUSING THE GAME. Even worse, The Simpsons Game give you an achievement for pressing Start at the title screen. Although, that may just be a parody of bad achievements; I certainly wouldn't put it past the game.
