Racket's Work-in-Progress Home Office

So I recently moved my home office upstairs and I'm slowly transitioning it into my retro gaming room (as opposed to the casual/modern gaming room in the living room)

Sarah and I (well actually Sarah did most of the real work) repurposed some old executive cabinets that I obtained on the cheap from my old place of employment into some awesome/heavy-duty entertainment centers.

The cabinets are very heavy wood (these were probably built in the 60s or 70s) and used to have doors in the center sections and then pull-out file cabinets on the sides. We took the doors and drawers off and put in shelves, drilled some holes in the back and then painted them.

Anyway, here's the results of the one in my office (another one will be black and be the home of the new Plasma that I ordered last week!)

Well, it's not in full "production" mode yet, but I hope to have some organized bins for different console controllers. I might do some little writeups on different elements.

I REALLY wish I would have taken "before" pictures of the cabinets. They look SO different.

Looks good so far. That floor looks like it needs a rug in front of the TV though.

I have a medium sized rug in front of my desk (where my office chair is) which is pretty close and just out of the photo. I really like the hardwood floors (60's houses are great!)

Quality work there on refreshing an old office unit, it looks awesome.
That would cost a fair amount to purchase something similar new.

I'd be inclined to put some props under it to stop it bowing, if thats an old heavyweight CRT.

It is a big CRT (32 inch?), but this wood is pretty think and strong. I don't think you'll find a piece in most stores that have this much heft (they are a beast to move though). You've got me slightly paranoid with your comment, but I would honestly be surprised if it couldn't handle it. All that area between the bottom of the TV and the empty area below is about 3.5 inches of solid wood.

Ah ok, couldn't tell it was that thick from the pic.

Maybe take a measurement from the bottom to the floor and monitor it, if it starts to sag prop it up.
Keep some paint just incase.

Sweet idea doing the cabinet up like that. I really need to get some kind of cabinet for my consoles, at the moment their just spread all over the floor
