I don't know much about the sonic thing but I saw the first few pages of the first one on IGN and it was a lot like a japanese sonic comic I saw which I think was official in some capacity.
Except the archie one had Snively in it.

I wonder what this means for the Man of Steel and new Batman movies being made at the moment. Will the onscreen characters reflect the new DC Universe or the classic characters?

So does "reboot" mean that they're going to start the story all over from issue #1? Wouldn't that make these comics worth money some day? Other than that, I'm interested in Batman and Teen Titans.

Common misconception, which spread like wildfire thanks to the industry of the 90s.itsmattxp wrote:So does "reboot" mean that they're going to start the story all over from issue #1? Wouldn't that make these comics worth money some day?
Most modern comics, even #1s, aren't worth jack, and they won't be in the future because they print plenty of copies.
That will happen here too. DC is gonna push this new standard of theirs hard, and you can bet they'll print more copies of these issues than will actually sell.
So you know, don't stock up.
As for the meaning of reboot, it means they'll be changing the character's histories and origins. How much those things are altered remains to be seen. From what I've heard of this case, some events will be changed, while others will remain the same. Since this is universe wide, they have a chance to fit everything together nicely for a while.
At least for a few more years until everything gets hopelessly convoluted again.

It won't effect those movies at all.BurningDoom wrote:I wonder what this means for the Man of Steel and new Batman movies being made at the moment. Will the onscreen characters reflect the new DC Universe or the classic characters?
Superhero films very rarely, if ever, follow comic continuity.
Besides that, The new Batman movie is already shooting and Man of Steel's script has already been written.

Which... which Infinite Earth thing was this?samsonlonghair wrote:Okay, I'm ready to play Devil's Advocate once again.

Although I agree that the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" reboot worked well for a time, It didn't solve any of the long-term problems associated with comics. Soon enough we went right back to plot holes, deus ex machinas, dead characters brought back, and misogynistic portrayals of women.
Long-running, intertwined, franchises never really last forever. There's always some re-vamp (see: Amalgam Comics, Tangent Comics) just to squeeze out more revenue out of a license.
They won't do that. You can always squeeze money out of an established character. No one wants to take a risk on what will become the next "Seinfeld" so they disappear, become obscure, and if they ever reappear, they get relegated to getting killed off. (See Marvel's Thunderbolts to see how this is done.)samsonlonghair wrote:What the comic industry really needs is fresh new characters. Let Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Wolverine and all the other big names rest for a few years. Try out a few new ideas.

I'm sort of excited about some of these. Question though: Does this mean that the new Wonder Woman and Green Arrow comics they just recently restarted are getting scrapped? I wasn't really fond of Wonder Woman's story line, but I was starting to dig the Green Arrow one.
And I don't know if you can call the new BATWOMAN comics a reboot/relaunch. She's only been in a handful of 52/Batman/Detective Comics issues anyway. Seems silly to relaunch something that's barely started

It's so true too. I really liked her Detective Comics story arc, so when I saw ads for an upcoming series/book I got kind of excited. Date came and went....nothing. Maybe this time they'll follow through.

I kind of wish Hellblazer was getting a reboot. The classic runs were so great, but in the 150s the quality started to dive bomb. The current 200 stuff is just meh all together.
