I guess I'm a minority. The 2600 and NES came after the TI-99/4a.
Mine would be the 2600. Had a 4 switch with the shiny wood grain, spent many hours playing Asteroids and Space Invaders. Shortly after I got an NES and then my first true system that I picked out was my Sega Genesis.
Well, now that people are taking the thread seriously, I guess I'll participate. The first system I had that belonged to me and me alone was a PSone. I don't have it anymore, becuase I sold it at one point to help fund my buying a PS2.

First thing I can remember playing was a top-loader NES then I some how magically got a Genesis M2, can't remember how though. I'll count the Genesis as my first as I'm pretty sure the NES was my brothers.

I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon. The first console my family owned was an Atari 2600. I never played it much, because soon afterward I got a Sega Genesis, and then a Super Nintendo.
