How to deal with a fixed camera
All I want to do is play through Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but I can't stand the camera angles and controls. Does anyone have any tips on how to overcome Fixed-Camera-Game-Anxiety?
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4

Skip ahead to resident evil 4....just kidding
Unfortunately until you get through RE 1-3 and code veronica you have to deal with it. Same thing for silent hill 1- origins maybe? But as much of a pain in the ass as they are, like most "survival horror" of the time, they are orth a play or two
Good luck

Deal with it.
But seriously, I don't know what else to really say. Try playing more so maybe you'll get over it, who knows. I grew up with this stuff and still go back to new games with these kind of controls all the time and love them.

Not much except to practice and adjust. It might seem really awkward and frustrating at first, but after a while of getting used to it, you'll be able to control it like second nature. Well, maybe not to that degree, but it's still a wall you'll have to overcome.

I hate invert gameplay it doesn't work in fps, only in some flying games. Slightly off topic.
You took too long, now your candy's gone. That's What happens. Bkowwwww. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

I honestly hate it too, and the truth of the matter is that the only way to overcome it is to play it.
If you allow yourself to get sucked into the game though, you'll find that the controls will quickly start to come quite naturally because you won't be over thinking it.
Really, just pop in one of the games and go for it. I'm willing to bet you'll be surprised how quickly you get used to it.

Re: How to deal with a fixed camera
Are you saying that you don't like the fixed camera because of its general awkwardness or because of how creepy it makes the game?
I personally don't have any problems controlling it, but it just creeps me out so much not being able to see all around me sometimes.
You should be able to get used to the way it controls before long, but overcoming the fear is another matter entirely - just gotta be brave!
In fact, to take it back on topic, it annoyed me at first how the aiming in Resident Evil wasn't inverted. I was getting mauled by a dog all while not understanding why I was shooting into the air rather than down!

I disagree completely. If I want to look up, I pull my head back. If I look down, I push my head forward.benderx wrote:I hate invert gameplay it doesn't work in fps, only in some flying games. Slightly off topic.

Ditto. I have the same attitude to those folks who complain about stylus control with the DS Zeldas and Super Mario 64 DS.Veno wrote:Not much except to practice and adjust. Most of the Silent Hill games give you control of the camera most of the time. And by control I mean allow you to make the camera swing to your front so you can see what you coming up to.
Resident Evil? You're pretty much stuck. Just try to remain open-minded to new concepts and you may enjoy the experience.
