Team Fortress 2 now F2P
Re: Team Fortress 2 now F2P
Team Fortress Classic is still $5. Weird.
Re: Team Fortress 2 now F2P
I don't have it yet. How big of a deal is "in-game" items. I hate games that give an advantage to those who buy items, and refuse to play them on principle. Either set a flat rate or find another way to make revenue, but privileging those who can afford to buy a win is disgusting in my opinion.

Generally they are 'pro one thing, minus another' the game is pretty balanced like that, the stronger something is, the slower its rate of fire, etc. Most of the items you would buy you can forge anyway, (Or find in a random drop) its just a very long process.o.pwuaioc wrote:I don't have it yet. Some items are promo only (Pre order this game get this item), etc.

Since you can get ALL the items for free just by playing, it's no big deal at all. It will just take a bit more time to get the items, but if you buy them you get them instantly, but you really don't have to. The drop rate is pretty good for the weapons , which change the gameplay of each class a lot (but don't give an overall advantage to the default weapons). It's the cosmetic features that drop very rarely (namely the hats) and those are the ones you'll probably end up buyingo.pwuaioc wrote:I don't have it yet. How big of a deal is "in-game" items. The thing is, you'll love all the content Valve gives you for free, sooooo much, that you are going to want to buy a few things to just support this amazing game.
There is no other game in the world that is crafted with more love and care than TF2, and that is why once you start playing it, you become a loyal fan.

OK, that sounds a lot better. I'm downloading it now. Seems there's a lot of others doing the same. I'm only at 6%.

ok, now that it is free to play, there is no excuse, everyone on the forum should download it, so we can set up a match

I still have to buy something on Steam in order to have friends. Suggestions for something cheap but awesome?ZeroAX wrote:ok, now that it is free to play, there is no excuse, everyone on the forum should download it, so we can set up a match :D

Damn, the only reason I bought The Orange Box on Steam again a few weeks ago was to play TF2 on a PC. Now I feel awfully stupid about it.
Re: Team Fortress 2 now F2P
Same here. Deathmatch I can do, but I have no interest in worrying about classes or teammates. FPSs are about shooting everything that moves.jfrost wrote: I don't own it. But it has more to do with my general unwillingness to venture into multiplayer FPSs.

If you're not in a huge rush, just wait until something you want goes on sale. Otherwise, there's a button for $5 and under stuff - lots of what's in there is expansion packs and the like, but there's a bunch of Sega classics for $2.99, some classic adventure games like Loom and the Dig, X-Com games, X games (space combat), etc.o.pwuaioc wrote: I still have to buy something on Steam in order to have friends. I have TF2 from the Orange Box, got it years ago...never actually played it though.
