Oh! I heard about this on one of the indie game sites I visit. It looks really cool. I can't believe it will be sold at cost. $20 is a steal. I hope we start seeing more indie devs making games for this thing.

I wonder why these sorts of open-platforms tend to always be handhelds. Has anyone made an open console?

Probably because a home console still has to account for variables with TVs and the like. PAL/NTSC, resolutions, all that. It's simpler to just target a built in screen.

That's basically a PC though. In fact, the basic components are barely different than what's in my HTPC.

The Xbox is basically a PC, the 360, the PS3 ..

..a console is just a setup of set parts so that developers can not worry about the ridiculousness of the PC market.
