So I played through the first few stages of the first mission of No One Lives Forever (GOTY Edition) - and I like it so far, although it took me a while to get the key mappings to where I liked them.

I recognize that stealth is a component to this game - but is it required? Can I play guns blazing and do just as well?

So far I quite like the design and the humor in the game, but I am curious how well it holds up over what seems to be a very long single player experience (judging by the number of levels listed in the guide that came with it).

You can run through No One Lives Forever with guns blazing. In fact I found that stealth is sort of an unattainable ideal in that game when I tried it. I didn't get very far though, so I can't help you about the length. I didn't really care for the game much.

I'll never forget my first experience with No One Lives Forever. I think I played the PS2 version or something, and I decided to walk off a ledge that was maybe like 8 feet above the ground ... and I died. Haven't played it since.

@noise: Have fun with the level "The Abyss" in Duke Nukem 3D, the last level of the first episode. Haha, damn that stage is hell. Took me 23 minutes this time around, I think the first time I cleared it though it took me over 40 or longer. That level seriously has some wacky design and stuff in it, epic boss fight at the end though. From there though I think the game gets even better.

Awesome!

I know noise is working on this too - but I seem to remember a few other folks were playing. How far is everyone else? Impressions?

I may play through the DS version soon. The extra content seems intriguing to me.

I was meaning to ask though, don't you think that this is the best boss battle music ever?! Gives me chills to this day.

played through some of the 3rd level of Duke last night. What is it? Toxic Dump or something? Great level design as usual! I loved the underwater stuff, and then I did find the fist access card but got killed right after I was SHRUNK(?!). I'm not even sure what killed me to be honest, it all happened really quick.

Played a few hours more FFXII and scaled around 100 floors of a tower. Encountered 4 bosses throughout and 1.5 bosses on the top. Judging from the cut scenes I watched during and afterwards I'm assuming I've got the game saved just before my final assault. Spent all my cash and LP equiping my characters and learning new spells.

Should be ready to end this thing tomorrow!!

Had a few power play hours with Beyond Shadowgate last night.Had to start from the begining again since the last attempt I forgot to save.So far there has been great little events in the game that are amusing.theres really complex segments due to the logic shadowgate has and you could miss some key items to not progress. In one scene you help an old lady up on to her bed and if you give her a book she'll read it to you till you rot away.(this is one of many ways to die in this game).By tonight ill have this one checked off my list.

As for my other challenge Im currently LvL 10 in lunar Silver Star.A jeweler stole my dragon diamond and now I have to search some sewers to to find him.Monsters are pretty tough so Ill prob do some grinding before I tackle my objective.

Were you in the vents? You're shrunk for a short period of time, so if you revert back while in the vents it'll kill you. lol

Alright a quick update- am am 99% through Banjo Kazooie- this is largely in part to the fact that I played through a lot of it as a child so I remember most everything (going for 100%) completion on it though, I love the game- I will review when I finish the final boss

Don't know how far I am in Donkey Kong Country but the mother fucking Ice World or whatever is making me reallly mad, I found the shortcut in the first level, but I am low on lives by the time I make it to the second level- I guess there isn't a save point for a little bit

About 45% through Secret of Mana, playing it weekly with three friends, it has been quite fun

that is where I stand right now as far as what I have done so far- going pretty well I'd say :)
