Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza
Re: Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza
So, to actually contribute something, I'm gonna say that I always put red pepper and on my pizza when it's available. Sometimes grated cheese. And my favourite toppings are anchovies and eggplant.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Re: Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza
Good Lord, i've made many thousands of pizzas for a variety of big chain to mom and pop restaurants. The worst that comes to mind was a reuben pizza, with thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, and corned beef. A seafood pizza with cocktail sauce and imitation crab was also particularly nasty.
Is anyone else grossed out by describing a pizza as a "meat lovers"? I delivered for Pizza Hut when that was a new special, and invariably they were ordered mostly by the fat, greasy fuckers you would expect to proclaim their love for meat.

Before I saw the mosquito commercial, I never thought to put tobasco on my pizza.
I only put it on frozen pizza though.

That might be my all time favorite commercial, helped significantly by the fact that I only saw it once.Jrecee wrote:Before I saw the mosquito commercial, I never thought to put tobasco on my pizza.

Re: Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza
Sometimes I add different condiments, mostly because I like to dip. Ceaser, ranch, blue cheese, and honey mustard dressing, are pretty descent. I also think Mayo can be good. Lately I have been eating pizza with sour cream.
I never tried Mustard, but I can see how that would be good on a bacon, cheedar, hamburger pizza.
Speaking of toppings i wish there were more seafood choice toppings, lobster is fantastic on pizza, so is crab and shrimp.

I practically drench my pizza in Sriracha nowadays. So delicious and addictive

9 times out of 10 I put BBQ sauce on my pizza.
10 times out of 10 I put BBQ sauce on my cheeseburger.

Re: Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza
I rarely use condiments on food. When I do it is usually only some form of mild sauce. I usually don't have any toppings on food either. For example: If I eat a hamburger, I eat a hamburger with a bun. Typing this out made me realize how boring I am. But to answer OP's question, It seems odd to me to put anything other than hot sauce on pizza.

I used to eat those, but then I realized they are just slimy pastries with ketchup and low quality cheese on them. You're better off eating pizza flavored Combos (those pretzel tubes with flavored cheese in the middle.)Flake wrote:The mere mention of 99 cent frozen pizza gives me a panicky sphincter.CFFJR wrote: You know what? Fuck this arguing. Who wants Totino's? 99 cent "pizzas" for everone!
Anyway, when I make a homemade pizza, I put mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan cheese on it, plus pepperonis, canadian bacon, and red pepper flakes.

I honestly didn't know about toppings before going to the US. The name is pretty self-explanatory, but I only knew pizzas with flavors, not one topping over another.dedalusdedalus wrote:On a tangential note, I wonder if other cultures think it's strange that people from the US like toppings on their pizza.
Full disclosure: I'm not into pizza toppings, myself.
Then we ordered a pizza at Papa John's with something ridiculous, like 6 different toppings. It was fun.
