Social acceptability of putting condiments on pizza

On a tangential note, I wonder if other cultures think it's strange that people from the US like toppings on their pizza.

Full disclosure: I'm not into pizza toppings, myself.

So, does anybody from outside the US find it completely strange that it's common in the US to put pepperoni, anchovies, mushrooms, meatballs, or pineapple & bacon, etc, etc, on pizza?

I don't put any on my pizza. Generally just solid toppings and grated paremesan.

I feel you though. In Japan they throw all kinds of garbage on their pizza.

Indeed. Saw shrimp and mayo pizza when I was just there as well as shrimp, clam, and mussels (still in shells). Here's lemon, onion, and ginger?

Crushed Red Pepper, Ranch Dressing, and Tabasco sauce. These things are acceptable on proper tomato sauce based pizzas. Anything else is indicative of a character flaw.

Back in grade school I knew a kid that put corn on his pizza. Yep.

Not a fan of condiments in general though, so no. Parmesan, peppers, and such are fine though, and I'm usually a fan of meat lovers styled pizza's. You guys ever try chicken and bacon on pizza? Oh man, so unhealthy, but so good.

Chicken and bacon on pizza are indeed good. Krogers has a buffalo chicken pizza I like for lazy dinner moments. I used to like BBQ pizza from Pizza Hut when I was little. I'm not sure if they offer it anymore.

Man, that makes me miss okonomiyaki... but I don't know how to make it or where to get it.

Unless you are eating pizza from NYC or Chicago, you aren't really eating pizza. Put whatever condiments on you want, you plebians.

I remember finding out there was no peperoni instead they used ketchup on top. this was in Mexico, pizza is little bit different, but alright.

Society be damned. I am fine with mixing any food together, be it on pizza or otherwise, as long as it is safe and tasty. Just because it is unusual to put food A on pizza B doesn't mean shit to me. I will consider it first before condemning it.

By the way, my favorite pizza topping is anchovies. I have even gone so far as to bring my own can of anchovies to a pizza party that I knew wouldn't have them.

By "NYC" and "Chicago" you meant "Naples," right?
