FF5's official translation is kinda obnoixious with the Feris pirate talk.
Of course, the fan translation has "Butz".
Why is Chrono Trigger part of FF Chronicles?

I wish I still had my old IRC logs about those topics. Much fun.AppleQueso wrote:FF5's official translation is kinda obnoixious with the Feris pirate talk.

oh yeah I'm playing on PS3. It's noticeable but doesn't bother me.AppleQueso wrote:still obvious load times.benderx wrote:I keep hearing CT loading times take forever on ps1. HOLD it ! What do people have to say when its played on ps2/ps3 with these options "smooth" and "Fast CD"?
It's noticeable when you get into battles, the entire game freezes for a few seconds before the battle actually starts

If we can make this thread for "all" FF type questions - i'd like to ask:
What is the best version of III that one can get (official release) in the US now? Only the DS?

isn't the DS version the ONLY version of III that was officially released in the US? (Unless I'm drawing a blank......?)retrosportsgamer wrote:If we can make this thread for "all" FF type questions - i'd like to ask:

The DS version is the only official NA release, but I would strongly suggest playing the fan translation of the original NES classic if at all possible.

Agreed! I found it the best of the NES games. I could not really get into the DS version though.brunoafh wrote:The DS version is the only official NA release, but I would strongly suggest playing the fan translation of the original NES classic if at all possible.

that's what I have actually. It's a bootleg PS1 disc I found which makes it even funnier. But when you load up the disc it's just the translated NES ROM + emulator.brunoafh wrote:The DS version is the only official NA release, but I would strongly suggest playing the fan translation of the original NES classic if at all possible.

That is awesome. I'd love to have FF3 on the ps1. Would fill out the library quite nicely.noiseredux wrote:that's what I have actually. It's a bootleg PS1 disc I found which makes it even funnier. Re: Why is Chrono Trigger part of FF Chronicles?
If I was lukewarm about FFV (I've played most of it twice but have never finished it, just one of those games where I lose the drive eventually) ... what do you guys think I'd make of FFIII? I'd also probably rather play the original than the DS remake.
I know it has the job system and well, to me the job system sounds amazing on paper, but in action I think it's just tedious and not my preference. Having played through most of FFV twice and beaten FFT twice, it's just annoying having to grind for something more than exp, this guy has to learn this spell or ability, this battle is better with four mages or something, I dunno. Just doesn't do a whole for me so I'm not sure what I'd think of FFIII. And as for FFT, I just completely prefer Tactics Ogre's class system compared to it.
Well after having an issue with my PSP cockblocking me from playing FFIV Complete at the moment, maybe I should consider giving FFII another shot. It seems cool and with a little more depth than the first game story wise, I remember it has a weird leveling system but yeah.
I think FFV coming after IV and before VI also has to do with how apathetic I am about it though, it just does not compare to those games at all in my opinion when it comes to story/characters, etc.
