I second Grandia II lisalover. You can't go wrong.

@noise: 5 minutes on Death Row is quite possible. Just takes practice.

You're about to enter Toxic Dump. Enjoy, I love that level. Its filled to the brim with secrets.

noiseredux wrote:just beat mission 3 of Duke Nukem (Death Row)... good level. A lot harder than the first two, just as far as navigating and figuring out how to unlock everything. Of course it helped that I didn't know how to use first aid kits until halfway through this level, haha. Anyway one thing that struck me -- it took me 23 mins to beat this level. At the end is said Par time was 5 mins. Seriously? Five minutes to beat that level?

Doom I think is more marathon fun, but yeah I like to take my time in DN3D. I'm actually playing it again now myself, a few more stages ahead of you... I'm gonna be honest and say I'm not a HUGE fan of the first episode. Especially some of the later levels, just wait until you get to the mountain/canyons stage, the level design gets really wacky and confusing. But maybe you won't have an issue with it.

Episode 2 if I remember right is mostly alien/space ship stuff and I loved that one a lot, then it was episode 3 that I loved. That one had Duke Burger, some grocery store, and just silly places on Earth like that. Or was it Episode 4?... I think both episodes had stages like that. The final boss is pretty epic and worth beating as well.

As for Grandia II, that game has an amazingly fun combat system. Can't say much about the story though. ... I definitely need to hit up Skies of Arcadia myself someday.

Around 32 hours into FFXII now. Looking for the source of the Nephicite now. Ashe hasnt decided if she wasnt to destroy it or use it yet. Characters are around level 44-45. Just started the first floor of the tower to find the Sun-Cryst.

Awesome!

I know noise is working on this too - but I seem to remember a few other folks were playing. How far is everyone else? Impressions?

around 9 hrs in, but I haven't played in a few days. I've been playing Duke Nukem more right now. Last I was playing I was at the boss inside the castle you go to by hitching rides on dactyls. I still think that (1) Chrono Trigger is really great, but (2) still not one of my favorite RPG's. Actually lisalover playing through Phantasy Star kind of illustrates that. I was sooooo blown away by Phantasy Star, and I don't get that same feeling from CT. Yet, anyway.

I seriously thought that the game kept getting better and better as it went.

It peaks and falls then peaks again. Personally I dont rightly like the 12000 BC time, I think it drags on.

I haven't liked any of the BC stuff or any of the future stuff. I liked Magus's castle a lot. That was a good section. I don't know. Like I said, I like the game. But for whatever reason I'm not really all that sucked into it the way I normally am with an RPG that I really like.
