I'm confused about disgaea T-T

Hey guys! I was wondering if you guys could help me out with a rather specific Disgaea question. I'm totally confused about the experience gain system in this game. Is experience ever shared? Does the experience go to whoever does the killing blow in the game? Does everyone participating in the battle ever gain experience? I'm having a hard time leveling up my healers >___<

Experience is given to the person dealing the deathblow. So yes, leveling up healers is a real pain. I think in Disgaea 3 they started giving them exp for healing, which made the job a lot easier.
