If you look hard enough, you can still find these new in store. I've seem one or two copies at Sears and K-Mart before. Check out stores like that. Not too many people go to either to buy games. I have seem copies of MP trilogy at both in the past 6 months. In fact I'll make it a mission to go check the ones out around me, if I find it I'll let you know.
The only other difference I've heard of is in MP3 they took out the word damn. I never noticed the arm cannon effects missing. The aiming is much better, and the widescreen is better as well.
Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii

The intros are gone, but the music is still there (an unlockable).Flake wrote:The intros that lead into the original menu screens are gone - along with the nifty music.
I also miss the original, first-run prints of MP where all the sequence-breaking is intact. (Does having morph-ball jump help?)
I finally opened my copy of Trilogy a month ago (right before the TV died) -- I just cannot get used to the "mouse"-joystick controls. I was never a big modern FPS fan, so I'm used to the DOOM/DUKE3d style of quickly auto-aiming. Moving left while spinning right to fire just throws my perception off.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

The gun effects (or lack of) oddly stem from the trilogy being based off the PAL versions of the games:

That and well, that probably lists every major difference I'd assume.

Re: Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii
It's not, it's because the effect was a static animation on screen in the gamecube version. With Samus' gun arm moving all around the screen in the wii version in relation to the remote, it meant it didn't necessarily appear where the gun arm was anymore. The animations are still in the Gamecube PAL Metroid Prime.Xeogred wrote:The gun effects (or lack of) oddly stem from the trilogy being based off the PAL versions of the games:

I think the extra shading and bloom lighting effects make up for the effects that were removed.

Re: Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii
Haha I wasn't expecting this question to start this big of a discussion
The thing is my brother has Metroid Prime for gamecube, but he doesn't have the other two. I owned the game waaay back in the day when it was new, but I never beat it. Now that I have a Wii I just figured I would pick up the trilogy version. I just hate the Wii motion controls and am worried I will hate the trilogy on wii after spending $60.... on second thought maybe I will finally get a gamefly subscription.

I hate motion controls.
Two exceptions to that statement: Wario Land Shake It and Metroid Prime Trilogy.
For everything else, there's a gamecube controller.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

If you take nothing else away from this thread, take this from it: the controls for Metroid Other M and Metroid Prime Trilogy are completely different.

Are you kidding? Wario Land: Shake It is what held me over till Mario Bros. Wii came out. And then I realized Wario Land was the better of the two games.swiftzx wrote:Flake wrote:I hate motion controls.
