Just beat the retranslated version of Phantasy Star, and I freaked out when I saw Frank Cifaldi's name in the credits for the translation! But, this was truly an unbelievable game, and puts every other 8-bit RPG to shame in terms of presentation. It has the story, graphics and sound (if you got the version with FM sound) of a 16-bit RPG, managed to fit on an 8-bit system. Consider me blown away. :D

wow I didn't know Frank worked on the translation, either! That's awesome. And yes, I agree. It's by far my favorite 8-bit RPG.

You really should take a look at this new version of the game with FM sound and a new translation. I have played a bit through the US Master System official release, and I have to say that this new version is miles better.

I've got it on GBA and on PS3, so not sure I need another version really.

I'm just saying you should take a look at the rom. It would only take a few minutes; just give it a shot! ;)

oh oh ...right haha.

the thing about Phantasy Star is if I even think of the game I hear the music in my head. And if I hear the music in my head, it makes me want to start the whole game over again. Gah! It rules!

lisalover, now that you've finished the game and everything's fresh in yr head you should listen to the Racket-cast episode that has an interview with that guy that runs the PS Shrine.

I listened to that a while ago, actually, but I should really listen to it again.
