beat mission 2 of Duke Nukem (Red Light District) but then forgot to save
. Looks like my last save was 49% thru the level. Dammit. But whatever. This game is so great.

You didn't strike me as a Duke Nukem guy noiseredux. It's awesome you're enjoying the game though. It only gets better. You're playing the PSX version right?

yup, the PlayStation port. I loved Wolf3D and Doom back in the shareware days. I can definitely appreciate a good FPS from the era. Like I understood the appeal of Dark Forces, just didn't click with me so much. But THIS. Wow. This is probably one of my favorites of the genre. I had played Duke Advance before, but yeah the level designs in this one are just so incredible.brunoafh wrote:You didn't strike me as a Duke Nukem guy noiseredux. I played Duke Advance too, but it was pretty bad from what I remember. Duke 3D is definitely up there with the best of it's kind. The level design is pretty much the game's greatest strength. I've been playing that game for years now and every level is just as fun and seems just as well thought out as it ever was. It's amazing how the quality of the level design through-out all 3 scenarios never drops. If I'm not mistaken the PSX version has 4 scenarios even. I've never played that one though.noiseredux wrote:yup, the PlayStation port. I loved Wolf3D and Doom back in the shareware days. I can definitely appreciate a good FPS from the era. Duke Advance is actually pretty good. I mean it's probably the best FPS on GBA -- I liked it better than the Wolf3D, Doom I & II ports... better than Serious Sam, better than um... Ecks Vs Sever haha.
but yeah the levels weren't this perfect.
The PS1 version does have a whole 4th Scenario added on as well. I wish RemotePlay worked better though. I was trying to play this on my PSP laying down in the other room but everything was so choppy.

I started Guardian Heroes, and I liked the first 4-5 stages I played...but didn't continue as I am not sure if I want to credit feed through the game. It looks like it gives you ten credits by default?
How long is the game? Will I need all these? I get that there are branching paths which is great for replayability...are there many different endings for each and every character?
Any recommended characters? I chose the default character, settings, etc.

Beating the game on the default amount of credits is impressive in its own right.dsheinem wrote:I started Guardian Heroes, and I liked the first 4-5 stages I played...but didn't continue as I am not sure if I want to credit feed through the game. I prefer Han to start with. He translates well from similar games and frees you up to figure out how to best use the golden warrior.
Also Han's special moves are awesome!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Have you ever played the Kill A Ton Collection?brunoafh wrote:I played Duke Advance too, but it was pretty bad from what I remember. Duke 3D is definitely up there with the best of it's kind. Comes with:
* Duke Nukem 1 & 2
* Duke Nukem 3D
* Plutonium PAK, Duke It Out in DC, Duke! Zone II, Duke Xtreme
* Duke Nukem 3D: Interactive Strategy Guide
* Duke Nukem Level Editor
I haven't touched any of those expansions, I wonder how they are.
And yeah I mentioned it earlier but the PSX version has a 4th episode. Although noise, you might want to check out the XBLA version... it's a damn good port and has a rewind function in case you mess up or something. It might sound lame, but it's not. It was way better than the Doom 1-2 XBLA ports with a lot more features.

I'm always a Nicole fan. I think as for finishing the game Han is probably easier though. The game is surprisingly long and gets a lot harder as you go on. Its a good challenge with those 10 credits.dsheinem wrote:I started Guardian Heroes, and I liked the first 4-5 stages I played...but didn't continue as I am not sure if I want to credit feed through the game. 28 Hours into FFXII now. Party at level 42 and I'm still moving along nicely. Feels like I'm getting closer to the climax now.
