the focal point of the artwork (megaman himself) is some of the worst anatomy ever put on a commercial product. It doesn't matter if that's all that's wrong because it's the only part that really matters.

can somebody explain why this game is considered the poster child for bad video game covers? minus, the yellow portions of the suit and mega man holding a gun, i see nothing wrong. are these the only two arguments people have?

Have you tried looking at it? Like, seriously looking at it? Even beyond the Rob Lyefeld-esque Megaman...Look at it, man!

the art does look like an amateur artist constructed it. but, i think that it gives it a lot of personality.

Terrible anatomy. Terrible foreshortening on the arms. I dare you to take a pistol shaped item and stand in front of a mirror and try to duplicate that image. With your legs like that you're likely ot fall over and your gun arm twisted into that position to match will be cramptacular if you can even do it. The entire image has no depth do it so it looks like a bunch of cutouts stuck to a wall. What are the yellow blobs? Why are there enormous palm trees growing out of the building on the left? The buildings are just heaps of shapes that don't make any sense at all. There's the terrible painting error blob of blue around the top right of the right building.

It's like they decided at the last minute that the 'cute' Japanese cover wasn't going to cut it so they had someone's kid who was in high school art class spend a weekend throwing something together before it all went to the printers on Monday. That kid has just learned about Flash Gordon a mere weeks before and that bled into the costume design.

Folk art (in general) or something done by a young child is amateur stuff with personality. This is just... bad.

thank you for taking a subjective topic and trying to make it objective. it seems like everybody hates this cover art but i never read why people thought it was bad.

i don't think i have ever looked at a cover - whether it be album art, dvd, video games - and thought it was bad. it is what it is.

it would be interesting to see how the cover came about, who did it, and how close to release date it was done. that would be a cool podcast for the website.
