I finally got a Dreamcast!!!

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I finally got a Dreamcast!!!

Post by Chickensuit »

I got my first DC (I grew up on the Nintendo side of the tracks...).
I picked it one up out of the classifieds with the DC, AV cable, power cord, and two controllers and a vmu for 22.00.
You guys here convinced me about the DC, and i'm loving it. I've been playing Jet Grind Radio and Ikaruga.

So what else do i need? What are the "must have" games and accesories for my Dreamcast?

Having a light gun is fun for DC games like House of the Dead 2 and Virtua Cop 2. You can use it with emulated NES games too.

I'd also say an Undergound Gamer account is a pretty important Dreamcast "accessory."

There are a LOT of great games for the Dreamcast like...

Skies of Arcadia
Grandia II
Soul Calibur
Shenmue
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure II
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 2

many, many more I can't think of right now! :)

try to get yourself the DC/Agetec Stick if you can, it truly is a lovely stick, I prefer it to my HORI Real Arcade Pro (just).

it also is smaller than the HORI so I also use it for MAME

getting a VGA cable would be essential I would say (if you were in Europe I'd just suggest an RGB scart but you're not)

congratulations man, there is something really special about DC's, I have 2 now (one in storage), and I just love them - the colours are so bright from them, and Soul Calibur's fluid animations are still beautiful. So many great games too - Marvel Vs Capcom, Ikaruga, Garou:MOTW, SF III, SF Matching Service, lots of KOF's, Under Defeat, Border Down - there's even some great self booting NeoGeo CD emulations areound if you look...

The Soul still burns...

you have got to get power stone one and two. thank me later.

also of course, if you like fighters, MvC 1 and 2, soul calibur, and especially dead or alive 2 are must-haves. also, the dreamcast verson of UFC was exceptional.

I've got too many DC games so i'll just stop there.

Eventually you may want to spring for Samba De Amigo and Typing of the Dead (and the controllers needed for each). Samba needs Maracas (easily $100 for two sets of 3rd party) while Typing requires keyboards ($20-30 for both and the game).

They sound silly and foolish, but apart from Together Retro and an upcoming tournament, they are all the gaming I am doing right now. Samba can only be described as Samba, and I hate Caboose so much for talking me into it.
