I love the first few stages of Magician Lord and then it gets so unfairly impossible that it becomes unbearable. I did beat the game once though.

Well I'm up to stage 6 and this is just CHEAP sometimes. The game is not overly hard, but it sets you up in situations to lose. Things like jumping and character movement are extremely rigid. This is one of the harder experiences I have had in a while.
