I could hardly put it down until I finished it. Something about the simplicity of the storyline and characters combined with a very polished battle system just clicked with me. It was easy to identify with the game's silent hero and feel like you were part of a massive fairy tale. I'll admit it started out slow, but even this had an intentional purpose as it emphasized the sense of progression throughout the game. It's strange how a game regarded as simple (not a bad thing at all) really stood out to me as one of the most unique and refreshing RPG's of the last decade. Definitely a must play for any RPG fan.

what do you think? I really like it, but most people here think I'm daft.

Its eh... has some fun parts and crap parts. Story is weak and dumb characters that don't make me care what happens to them. Combat system was entertaining and great visuals. Pressing up while running through tunnel after tunnel got old though for the first long chunk of the game.

This may seem as a weird statement, but FFXIII I believe is very miss understood game.Alot of hardcore FF gamers or RPG gamers can pick this game apart from the get go,it was no where near what was expected. After a few hours in myself I began to lose the intrest (kinda lost hope to be honest). There is a bright side to this though. If you look a little deeper into the current market and what past trends have been like, you can then understand what happened to this game.

What has been said about FF mystic quest, may have well been repeated with FFXIII.I would love to bring out a few comparisons to both these FF.

*note this is just my opinon and theory :D

Audience-Then (FF:MQ),RPGs fairly new to american audience and once believed to be to complex for us.Hence a introductory lesson to see reception without going all out in development?
Now (FFXIII),amist all FPS dominance amongst this generation, the world wasnt ready for a ground breaking RPG?Another reason why I see this FF as a Intro/market tester.

So basically with all its substance that follows, this is why I believe why FFXIII is miss understood, just look at it as another FF mystic quest and it should shed some light on the situation. Both are simple, linear and made to introduce a new crowd to RPG without overwhelming them.

Ill be playing mine in a few years from now when its a little more retro, that way I wont be expecting some big budget next gen best since "VII" FF

Why the hell did I post this again?

2011...the year someone defended a numbered Final Fantasy by suggesting you look at it as another Mystic Quest.

Oh 90's Squaresoft how we miss you.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

You magically forget FFXIII exists.

Anyways, I shall more than likely be replaying FFIV here soon with the Complete version. I've been wanting to replay it more than once for years and years, and the PSP version looks like it'll be a nice fresh experience. I did get the GBA port and the graphics update was nice and all, but it was too easy and didn't hold me over until the end. I'm pretty determined to beat Complete though. We shall see how FFIV stands the test of time for me. FFVI watch out!

Complete does feel fresh, and that's saying a lot coming from someone that's played more than their share of FF IV. The retouched artwork just looks great and you'll probably dig the bonus content since you didn't see it on the GBA version yet. Unfortunately it's still going to be really easy, because Complete is more or less a direct port of the GBA version, meaning the dumb ATB bug that skips the enemies turns is still present.

There's also TAY, which is awesome in it's own right of course.

Of course, not to say I don't like the originals look and all, lots of charm there. But let's just say Complete looks about 20x better than the GBA and DS remakes to me. 8)
