I sold my copy today. I really respect that game. I think it's very impressive. But yeah, I never found myself sucked in either.

brunoafh forgot to mention that you can also "transcend" characters, restarting them back to level 1 but with better base stats. I forgot how many times you can do this, but in the back of my Disgaea 2 guide there is an entire page that is this enormous equation/calculation of the highest amount of HP obtainable, and it's like 65 billion something. These games are silly and endless.

Yep, there's a lot of stuff that could be mentioned about these absurdly huge games. I really only dug into the first one, but wow. Just stupidly huge. I've seen people claim to have put like 1000 hours into them. It's still a pretty good SRPG though even without the back-breaking amount of content, definitely worth a play. I'm generally not a fan of Nippon Ichi stuff, but Disgaea is a much higher quality title than any of their other stuff.

Agreed. I remember hating Phantom Brave and haven't had a lot of interest in their other stuff. I played Disgaea 2 myself but never finished it, the overwhelming amount of content later on kind of distracted me I guess and I put it down after awhile.

For instance (for others who don't know), later on you can go inside your items... which generate random dungeons, you do this to capture monsters, get treasure, and if you clear the stages your item is leveled up... (I don't think you got exp in these though). However most items later on like powerful weapons or whatnot, can go up to 100 floors (maybe more), that's a 100 some floor dungeon right there and probably several hours worth of gametime just for that single item alone. Hilarious.

Then of course there's the whole crazy judge/jury thing which I can't even remember how to explain, but it sunk up a lot of time eventually too.

1,000 hours on these games sounds totally legit. 50-60 or however much I put into 2 though was enough for me, haha.

brunoafh wrote:The added content in Disgaea PSP isn't that significant. There's a good amount, but honestly, unless you're planning on dumping like 150 hours + (seriously) into the game to complete everything, the PS2 version has more than enough content to keep you occupied.

Sounds worth it. :D

I really enjoyed, it captured the old school RPG feel really well, when you want to level up and gain new weapons, you play to better your character, I found the game was over before I knew it, the storyline doesn't really progress much and there are no massively deep characters, but the games engine itself is pretty perfect.
