Trying to put together a collection of PS2 RPG's on the cheap. I grabbed Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for 9 bucks on Ebay (perfect condition). 10 hours in and I'm thoroughly hooked (and surprised I never played it before). Plus, with two kids, I appreciate the ability to play for 30-45 minutes and feel like I'm still moving forward each time.

I see many late nights in my future with this one....

If you're not being sarcastic, you shouldn't use blue text. It'll just be confusing.

Disgaea is pretty good. I was very let down with the two sequels though.

I'm holding out on buying Disgaea until I get a PSP. It has a bunch of bonus stuff (Like the Etna story mode) and I don't want to have to buy the same game twice.

I tend to buy ports of games in this hierarchy lately:

PS3
PS1
PSP
PS2

The added content in Disgaea PSP isn't that significant. There's a good amount, but honestly, unless you're planning on dumping like 150 hours + (seriously) into the game to complete everything, the PS2 version has more than enough content to keep you occupied.

The level cap varies by character, but the absolute max level you can get is 9999.

I keep hearing that Disgaea is the perfect portable game, but alas, I left my PSP in the seat pocket of a Delta flight 2 years ago and didn't notice till it was too late. That was a bad day.

On another note, I am also playing Dragon Quest VIII somewhat casually but it's not reeling me in like I thought it would. I will soldier on as I try to find out why it reviewed so well...
