Right or wrong, the real sin is being inarticulate.

Ahem...

I think a reading of the rules is in order gentlemen. In particular, this little gem under General Rules:
Racketboy wrote:2. No personal insults. Direct personal insult of another member, i.e., "You are an idiot." and all the variations. Why? Because this isn't grade school.
Bottom line -- don't try to tick off others.

On a long enough timeline, these hackers will make a mistake and will end up in jail.

There is some real irony to be had in this situation: People clamoring for freedom of information by acting in a way that demands tighter security, restricted flow of information, and greater involvement by law enforcement in the virtual arena.

Still - if someone is going to be making network security vulnerabilities a concept to be recognized even by lay people, I'm glad it is a bunch of wackos out for laughs and not a malicious foreign hacker seeking to either reap financial gain or cripple another states infrastructure.

What we are dealing with is annoying but enlightening.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

As Estonia has already learned the hard way.

Piece of shit nerds that should e hunted to extinction hackers should be thanked with a hammer to the bones of their hands
To quote Dshienem:
Hacker: 1. A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities, as opposed to most users, who prefer to learn only the minimum necessary. 2. One who programs enthusiastically (even obsessively) or who enjoys programming rather than just theorizing about programming….7. One who enjoys the intellectual challenge of creatively overcoming or circumventing limitations.
aka, Programmers = Hackers. Period.

also:
Cracker: One who breaks security on a system. Coined ca. 1985 by hackers in defense against journalistic misuse of hacker.
This is more accurate to what you (and others) keep referring to.

You have a very narrow definition of "hacker" yet you insist on applying it to a very broad group.

Let's call a spade a spade at this point. A words meaning is granted by its use in the vernacular. 99% of all media talking about people who maliciously break into computer networks call them 'hackers'. I haven't seen anyone actually make the hacker vs cracker distinction since about when that article you cited was written.

Now if you want to insist on people distinguishing between malicious hackers or benign hackers, that's fine. But you're nitpicking with 'cracker'.

That's more what I'm going for actually. It was a secondary point anyhow.
