This is another point that I usually bring up to people that try and defend the "reboot". Beyond all the superficial changes that irk me, this is the actual deal breaker.
Ok, now I'm with you.

That was the kind of game that comes along once in a decade, and rarely gets repeated in the same franchise. I'm just glad that there will probably be a HD re-release of the original trilogy, as it is easily my favorite new IP past 2000.

I'm willing to give the new DMC a shot even if I don't like the aesthetics so far. But all this NERD RAGE is seriously much more depressing and unsightly than anything NT has produced.
Would you recommend DMC3 to someone that liked the first, but not the second?

I'm not a huge DMC fan, but I still have to say that DMC 3 is one of the most badass action games ever created, at least until Bayonetta came along. Be prepared though, it's hard as hell and it demands a lot from anyone who wants to truly master it. Pick up the special edition if you can find it so you can play as Virgil as well as Dante. Plus, it's just the best overall version of the game

What's wrong with Enslaved and Heavenly Sword's combat? I loved the combat in those games.

There's like 3 combos.

Also, I'm gonna go ahead and have to say it... but I didn't really like Bayonetta. To me the story and characters were SO bad it ruined it for me, lol. I mean hell no I wasn't taking it seriously, but when they kept interrupting levels every 5-10 minutes for new cutscenes, it really ruined the flow for me. The gameplay was solid as hell but I hated everything else.

I'll be the first to admit they went a bit overboard with the game's silliness. Not taking yourself seriously is one thing, but the game was downright ridiculous at times. This is the same guy who gave us Dante though, Bayonetta is him cranked up to twenty...with boobs

Yeah Bayonetta was too much for even me, and that's saying a LOT. As you guys might've saw in the God Hand threads, it's pretty much one of my favorite games ever. Bayonetta though... it's just simply too much.

Beyond the utter absurdity and ridiculous sex appeal littered through-out every second of the game, I honestly wasn't that impressed with the combat either. It's certainly slicker than most of the big name action/hack n slash games this gen, but I mean, DMC 3 still pounds it into oblivion, so I didn't understand what the fuss was. Decent game overall, but only like a 7/10 or so.
