I don't regret getting rid of Aria of Sorrow, though. I played that one thoroughly and hated the whole thing.noiseredux wrote:probably no.Flake wrote: ...Now I am wondering if selling off Harmony of Dissonance was such a smooth move...

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

More Resident Evil for me. Just found another dead STARS member, Forrest. He was pecked to death by crows. Thanks for the bazooka! Now to find those crests...

Lots more FFXII tonight. Just shy of 26 hours in. My main characters are all at level 38. Just beat probably the hardest boss I've come across yet. Cid!! It was brutal and I ended up using my last Elixer and my only Megaelixer and still barely managed to squeek by. Moved ahead a lot again tonight, there was a lot less combat today than usual though. Spent a good chunk of time in two different cities. Now I'm wandering in the Jungle looking for an entrance into the woods, cause that makes sense?!

9 hrs into CT and flying around on Dactyls. Admittedly, that's pretty awesome... even if it means Ayla has to have dialogue now.

I'll take Ayla's silly dialogue over the fucking drivel they made her daughter say in Chrono Cross. You don't know how good you have it right now, Noise.

I forgot she's in that, lol.Flake wrote:I'll take Ayla's silly dialogue over the fucking drivel they made her daughter say in Chrono Cross. You don't know how good you have it right now, Noise.
Everyone had weird accents/dialogue in that game though, sometimes it was a tad much. But oh well.

Blame Square corporate. They wouldn't give the localization team the time or assets they needed so the team had to write an algorithm that took the plain, unedited English translation of the script and engineered accents or speech patterns into it. Then they essentially copied and pasted the text into the games code.Xeogred wrote:I forgot she's in that, lol.Flake wrote:I'll take Ayla's silly dialogue over the fucking drivel they made her daughter say in Chrono Cross. Actually, Square corporate is also to blame for CT's wacky dialogue. Ted Woosley has mentioned in interviews that they gave him exactly one month to do the entire localization for CT.

yup, yr dead on Flake. My absolute FAVORITE article in the GameSpite book about PlayStation is the one about Woosley and localization. Incredible mess when you think of the $ that was riding on these products.Flake wrote:Blame Square corporate. Weird stuff. Is that book online, scanned, or anything like that? Would be interesting to check out. That sort of thing was certainly nothing I really thought about growing up, but nowadays it is kind of funny going back and replaying some JRPG's or playing new (old) ones and thinking about the dialogue. I've always wondered how accurate FF7's translation is, the first time I played it never had I see so much cussing in a game and I still don't think it's been topped in that regard.
